wait, were players forced to tag this character?

i think we're all supposed to gape in horror and dismay because this is a mod

one faction had to go watch their "execution" and the boss npc (also played by quix, lol) was taking attendance, this is the second "watch my blorbo die" log btw

taking attendance are you kidding me

Re: AION TELEIOS

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
you do realize that's something that happens in every murder game, right

it's not like there's no precedent for that kind of thing

it was not so I don't know why this comparison was made unless they were a lost flatviewer

Re: AION TELEIOS

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
da but p sure they meant to illustrate that this isn't an uncommon way to rp, not to compare AT to a murder game

Re: AION TELEIOS

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, it's not like this is something AT made up just for this game/character. execution logs have been around as a thing for quite a while now, and in murdergames at least it's not uncommon for characters to interact with each other on the log so it's sort of like a mingle.

i can see people thinking it's weird if they're not familiar with murdergames, but this isn't something the mods or the player came up with just for this particular situation or for attention.

Re: AION TELEIOS

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
but this...was not a murdergame

it would make sense in a murdergame but it doesn't make sense in this context

Re: AION TELEIOS

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
it also doesn't strike me as strange to take attendance in a game where event participation influences individual gameplay

you know what is weird? a mod grinding play to a halt and holding an entire playerbase hostage to 3 months of their precious blorbo's manpain hours, until the point of game-wide mutiny lmao. we can just say that.

its not an uncommon way to rp

for a murdergame

yeah heaven forbid we mix genres that would be terrible

Apparently, given the game is dead

Nobody wants to deal with murdergamers outside of murdergames. They stick to their own obnoxious circles for a reason.

the point is that people were acting like this was something unique that the mods made up just to put more spotlight on that character when there's actually an established precedent for that sort of thing and the mods just borrowed the concept from a different type of game.

(Anonymous) 2022-09-09 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
what is unique here is that afaik, every log beforehand with the regent did NOT have an attendance thread. the fact that there was suddenly one in the estinien enslavement log put pressure on kenoma players oocly to make their characters attend (and therefore react ICly, showering more attention on the estinien show). AND it was noted that the regent would be noticing who was there. the regent ICly declared that the kenoma in attendance would be the truest kenoma (or something to that effect), which pretty much means that anyone who wanted their character to be a trusted kenoma would have to be there no matter how little they cared about the estinien show itself.

one could argue that this is all just a coincidence and that quix was just trying to mark a more intense turn for the regent and the kenoma. but you cannot do that knowing that quix played estinien. it is an inseparable fact that the mods (aka quix) put hard emphasis on a log exclusively featuring their own character when it was SUPPOSED to feature the execution of the innocent entity, and then attached an "attend this or the regent will think you're lame and ignore you" component to it.

the attendance count may or may not have been a calculated decision to force people to care about the log, i'm not sure if quix is smart enough for that as much as sneaky and controlling. but you can bet your bottom dollar that she was straining at the seams to make it a grand dramatic theater for everyone to care about and feel sorry for estinien, and the regent putting the eye of sauron on everyone is certainly a way to add to the drama.

I've been in multiple murder games and it was just assumed everyone was there because they had to be. There was no attendance check lmao

oh yes did i mention it already had a very public "death" in the form of a part 2 event flavor text https://aionlogs.dreamwidth.org/20293.html
and its own reaction top level https://aionlogs.dreamwidth.org/20293.html?thread=5234757#cmt5234757
do murder games get several logs and top levels for a single death, enlighten me anon since i don't play in them, this event was supposed to be about rescuing prisoners btw

this is the most narcissistic thing i have ever seen in this hobby, yikes. i can't believe at players had to put up with this

Re: AION TELEIOS

(Anonymous) 2022-09-08 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
at least mgs go fast so characters can only get the "spotlight" for maybe a day at most. why the fuck did players have to spend an entire month having to react to estinien and work in plots revolving around estinien where there was shit all to do if you tried to avoid it

Re: AION TELEIOS

(Anonymous) 2022-09-07 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
oh god of course it was a ffxiv character. that game is such a plague.

Re: AION TELEIOS

the only anomaly is that it was an npc and not someone's special perfect angel warrior of light, but if there were ever a non-wol character in the game someone would get hung up on as a manpain messiah, it's that one
