So that's the one part I don't get. How did this go from "the callout plurk got zero momentum, nobody cares, the mods have basically gotten off scot free." to them speedrunning killing their own game, in like, two weeks? Just how bad were these shitty events?

It wasn't even the events, it was the mod response to the feedback about the events being to push their players under the bus. gonsai cannot handle criticism, this is their response pattern to everything (see them flailing now to pin the game's meltdown on bee)

i would also say that it was the blatant favoritism and total admission that rank means nothing and it was always about giving their friends all the special info/positions of power

And also giving themselves all of the plot and rewards and letting their own characters have all the special stuff but hiding behind anon mods to not reveal this.

That's why they don't want to out themselves. Their characters were holding all the plot, and we would see just how shitty they were being about sharing plot.

imo, from outside looking in, it's less about the event and more about the mod's response to well intentioned feedback. combining the fact that they told one thing to players in private and another in public, trying to push a public execution drop plot onto a player for a spectacle with zero input from that player on it, and blaming players for not communicating more on plots that affect the entire game that they run? it was a total shitshow.

i've seen people saying they were willing to keep gsai some leeway and a chance despite knowing their history and well, gsai proved them wrong very very quickly.
