for context, they didn't fire her immediately after the suicide attempt. she was on hiatus for a month while she was hospitalized but couldn't access her nijisanji socials so she didn't know if she was still with them or fired. she wanted to graduate/retire which is a nice way of saying she was quitting and allowing her character to say goodbye to the community that supported her over the years, but nijisanji refused the date she asked for and then fired her anyways.

it's so spectacularly petty and it's completely blown up in their faces.

+1 I agree. I can't think of any canon trans characters. I can think of some drag queens and a few "cross dressing for a joke" characters. But I'm hard pressed to think of actual trans characters. Maybe is some modern TV-shows like Euphoria? Haven't seen that show tho.

I have seen some trans OCs get heat on here for the way they're written. Sometimes it feels like there's no way of pleasing people.
