it was the mods being bad mods that killed the game. it would have happened even if he was never exposed.

people definitely do this in other hobbies, but here it's honestly not that bad to manage? i just unfollow replurks from everybody that isn't a longtime close friend. i don't find i miss much either.

there's a subset of metal fans who are just honest to god some of the nerdiest people you will ever meet. and i am saying this as someone who has staffed anime conventions lol

As someone who was in it fromt start to end, the mods eventually grew to be bad at communicating consequences (or Snow was). I remember that we weren't told that a consequence of something would be losing fire completely. I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I remember the NPCing was pretty demanding, but I think that was a mod choice, not a player demand. Could be misremembering this.

I also think it had a clique problem where certain players/characters held a lot of power and information, which blocked a lot of others from participating in things.

I was in this game from the start to its implosion and I don't remember that at all! (Must've been outside of my circle.) Wow. I can believe it given the mod's lack of communication skills.

seconding the unfollowing replurks mentioned by above anon. its very handy because if you use it wisely you can still keep replurks from friends who boost stuff you're interested in

also: mute/unfriend/block users who regularly signal boost emergency commissions. ime most signal boosts come from users who are equal parts well-intentioned and gullible (personally, if i see a signal boost from someone who doesn't usually replurk emergency comms/gofundmes i'm more likely to take them seriously, but that's just me). if you don't want to go that far, turn off replurks for them.

+1 for damned, the mods' attention to detail was great, and the progress characters could make felt actually rewarding, not like "you find a dead end with a mysterious mug and the gods tell you to leave it alone. it does nothing"

gsai only got busted because they couldn't stop being so unbearably gsai about everything. the flop wank only enabled them to act even worse

the taken list seems to have shriveled to half its size since the wankstorm a couple months ago. what do we think, wg? is the end finally here?

maybe but it's not a guarantee. a better way to check if the game is on its way out is to look at how many posts they've had over the past couple months imo. if there's still enough players for everyone to meet ac and finish their threads, then it can keep on trucking as a small game

A friend of mine was in a game run by some people I had a falling out with. It was dragging up the bad memories every time they replurked. It took an embarrassingly long time for me to realize I could do this, but my timeliness was far more peaceful after I did.

is that the one who gave a bunch of locations and times and names that were proven false immediately ("he took me to DINNER in PARIS with JOHN LENNON and YOKO ONO on [X date], it was awesome!" etc), but people ran with it for a bit because deep down we all enjoy "did you know your fav is problematic", or were there eventually plausible stories about a different 15 year old?

I just think he's cool it's not that deep
