They never "confirmed" any connection between genshin and honkai tho, like that's just a fan theory that really stretches the meaning of an old pre-release interview and some easter eggs to the point of absurdity

again, and not to hammer the point home, by that logic you should cap bioware games under the same franchise because there's a joke email from varric tethras in mass effect: andromeda

maybe they should set a cast cap

I'm gonna throw my hat in that actually I DO want to see a franchise cap on animated Disney original characters, major motion pictures, and their metaverses. No we don't need more than 20 didney princesses and their beaus, duckspins, king mickeys and tinier mice in tiny clothes in one game.

Marvel and Star Wars can get their own caps bc ownership DNE origin

Frank get off wankgate and do your fucking reports. We got quotas to meet.

Permanent AC and a form that asks for thread partner you only have to open one tab.

"# comments w/Jack"

Right in front of your eyeballs with no effort.

I agree to this only under the condition that we cap dc and marvel under a single franchise cap

we don't need 20 stubbly white men in capes in a single game anyway right. for that matter let's go all the way and cap all la franchises with boring samey white dude power fantasy characters under a single umbrella

wdym, they're basically waving an "avoid me" flag, it's useful

Re: CAST CAPS

I agree with this, but I'd tweak it further by saying let's put a single franchise cap on all canons I don't like

an ideal cap for that would be 1

i'm very sorry you have to share a game with characters you personally don't care about very much, that sounds awful for you

Re: da

I was mostly commenting on the person who said permanent ac and then multiple tabs (airt is presumably familiar by choice of wording). Multiple tabs should not even be necessary if your permanent ac post is done right.

The easiest way to know who people are tagging with is to require character names in the form. The only exception to this is players who constantly post open posts or top levels as a proof and then manage to only tag their BFF in that top level. Which is also a pattern of behavior that will become obvious with time as another comment pointed out. Mods typically recognize their "skirting by ac" problem players after a few months.

3. Who can join the game?

A. The franchise cap for all comic book-origin characters (including MCU, DCEU, etc.) is 50. However, male MCU and DCEU characters incur a penalty inflicted upon that cap of -50. Female MCU and DCEU characters increase the cap by +2, unless their principal role is as a love interest, in which case they inflict a penalty of -60. Non-LA comic book characters increase the franchise cap by +10, unless they are heavily involved with Spider-Man, Daredevil, or the Fantastic Four, in which case they inflict a penalty of -2. Mutants cause neither penalties nor increases, unless they've ever been on a team at some point called "New Mutants," in which case they inflict a penalty of -2.

Thank you for your interest in joining our game.

Re: CAST CAPS

that's a bit like saying all fire emblem games should count as one franchise

They should, though? This example is nothing like the hoyoverse one. Fire Emblem is a franchise, just like Final Fantasy is a single franchise and the Pokemon games and anime are a single franchise. That's literally what a franchise is. Meanwhile PoR and RD is a singular canon/universe: a game and its direct sequel.

It's a completely different situation from saying Genshin and ZZZ are the same franchise, when they have completely different franchise names and have yet to be confirmed by hoyo to be canon to anything else beyond easter eggs.

Re: CAST CAPS

(Anonymous) 2024-08-11 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
they're both franchises but final fantasy and fire emblem aren't franchises in the same way that pokemon is, at least as there would be relevance to rp. as i understand it the different pokemon properties all or mostly happen in the same universe, even if there are different protags and it focuses on different locations within that universe.

to me the point of having a "cast" at all is for characters/players to have slightly more of a motivation to engage in cr with their castmates because they share a universe and/or have some kind of preexisting relationship on a character level. if i'm playing a character from ff8 and it could be that my "cast" only consists of characters that my guy has never met from universes that mean as much to him as genshin's (barring, like, chocobos being a thing) does, that's silly

Re: CAST CAPS

(Anonymous) 2024-08-11 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
why they're needed:

i was once in a game with no caps that split its cast list into three roughly equal sections.

canons a-m
canons n-z
marvel

(Anonymous) 2024-08-11 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
No, this would be more like saying Mario and Zelda should be under the same umbrella because they're both made by Nintendo.

Fire Emblem is a franchise, even if there's no canon connections between the individual games. That's why they're all called Fire Emblem.

That said, Honkai 3rd and HSR are definitely the same franchise, but barely anyone plays from Honkai 3rd anyway so it hardly matters.
