the word 'norm' isn't a value judgment, it's a statement of statistical reality. it is not "exclusionary" except in that the very existence of categories excludes things that aren't in the categories. do you think "70% of the world's surface is water" is an attack on your person because you don't live in the water?

I have two characters who don't fit the sexual binary, and many other characters who do. This does actually come up in rp. Maybe not often, but it does.

and then you state that in your preferences or top level. do you know how many lokis i've played with who've stated openly and clearly that their version has a vagina? or that they could have a vagina? or that they had both? or none? no one gives a rat's ass if someone is nb or intersex or trans. communicate it. but not every meme or event has to have pc lingo 'just in case' someone might drive by and decide to be offended. it's not even offensive. vaginas and penises aren't offensive. genitals aren't offensive. unless you're aroace and are sex repulse by everything, then why the fuck are you on memes?

this sounds like bait, but maybe you just haven't run across the worst versions of the kind of people that make you roll your eyes at having to water down your language. the worst i've seen has been a post op bottom and top transwoman flipping out in a huge fb screed over a mutual friend of ours making a comment about being woken up because of severe pregnancy related leg cramps. they went on and on about how dare this person not be grateful for whatever suffering they have to go through, because 'some women aren't able to experience this kind of thing and you don't deserve it'. these kind of people will throw a mass fit over anyone mentioning anything biological they have to go through that's negative because 'some of us can't'. and it's usually transwomen.

most transmen i know are pretty chill. a certain group of transwomen seem to have clung on to that male entitlement and kept it through the transition and just became utter bitches. no one can have a thing they can't. everything has to be about them.

it's exhausting to have to watch every word because someone might be offended. and it's not like i'm talking about racism or bigotry. but talking about your penis or vagina or cramps or ball sweat or the baby's foot getting caught in your rib or peeing when you sneeze or anything that's something you can biologically go through and someone comes in with 'not all (thing they can't do)' and it's like, you're not special. there's plenty of ciswomen that can't experience pregnancy or periods. someone with endo should be able to complain about endo. no one in any of the memes have said 'trans/nb can't exist in this meme and i put a pox on their houses'. the memes have been the same with language that can just as easily be clarified in a comment as much as any other meme language is. if you can specify if you want smut or not or if you want angst or violence or no dubcon, then you can specify that you're trans or nb or whatever your character is that you feel the entire meme world should cater to.

stop using rp as your fucking therapy. your entire persona should not be about stanning for your special snowflake.

really, if you think the distinction i drew between image sources was ultimately both too fine a line and too subjective to be meaningful, that's fair enough.

it is probably most accurate to say that, for me anyway, unless the player manages to find pics to use that really do feel IC for the character (something that is really hard to pull off when you're working with more candid stuff, given it requires personality overlap with the pb that much of the time simply won't exist, much less be displayed in anything the actor would share on public socials)… it is in fact just gonna feel like getting a picture prompt of the actor, instead. which feels fucking weird.

it would definitely be too far to say that i think the people playing are actually being weird about the actors/pbs. but it seems like it would be a disproportionately awkward line to navigate.
