I genuinely don't know how you came to that conclusion if you've looked around wankgate ever lmao

(Anonymous) 2025-01-29 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
playing barbie men banging other barbie men with a bunch of other women/nbs/queer people on the internet doesn't automatically mean you're repressed and lusting after irl dick or find irl men attractive anon

your pref in what you wanna rp doesn't mean that's what you're into in your actual real offline life

(Anonymous) 2025-01-29 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
and yet, i doubt people are rushing to rp things they find utterly boring

(Anonymous) 2025-01-29 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah i'm a gay dude and the reason why i default to m/m is because 1) it's plentiful and 2) lacks the gendered dynamics of m/f that make me cringe

but i have rped m/f that didn't give me that ick and it was fine

the problem is that finding such m/f players is a needle in a haystack

so many m/f players want to recreate the tradwife strongman shit that puts me off

(Anonymous) 2025-01-29 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
this is a good point tbh, something i've encountered too as someone who plays m/m m/f and f/f

especially when i'm playing a male character, someone playing a female character and coming in hot with the tradwife or sweet innocent princess saved by strong knight fantasy is such a gigantic fuck no for me that i rarely play m/f unless the specified dynamic is strongly nontraditional

(Anonymous) 2025-01-29 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
i've noticed it tends to happen a lot with characters who are not white/are coded as not white. big strong brown/black male with dainty white princess

i hate it in m/m too though. cannot stand pale small uke/dark large seme either

it's also made worse because i tend to play warriors/soldiers given how rpgs necessitate that sort of character

i strongly prefer pairings, regardless of the gender configuration, where both partners are equal

(Anonymous) 2025-01-29 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
there's nothing wrong with playing m/f like the way you described, though, as long as both people are into it

(Anonymous) 2025-01-30 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
he didn't say there was

but you can probably imagine why nonstraight rpers might be more hesitant than others to play into the "this is how men and women are ~supposed~ to be" hetero fantasy

i'm sure we're all aware it's okay to play a masculine man and a feminine woman anon it's not like all of society has been saying that since time immemorial

(Anonymous) 2025-01-30 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
15 comments is barely a pulse check. that's one tag every two days. if you can't even manage that much then no, you should not be in a game.

literally the entirety of media since always caters to this dynamic, you don't have to "b-b-but what about the hets" just because a couple of gay ppl on wg aren't interested

(Anonymous) 2025-01-30 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
that goes without saying. it also has nothing to do with the convo.

I am definitely not attracted to men IRL (and I've tried) but I play m/m primarily because I want to fit in and it's plentiful. I've recently started writing m/f but I struggle to play a woman in an m/f pair for a variety of reasons (and have dealt with some of them).

I prefer f/f but finding that is a struggle. People tend to be incredibly judgemental about f/f and are more quickly turned off it, imo. Id never say this off anon, though.

I should add, I am a lesbian (and not ace or aro)

people aren't judgmental about f/f, they're paranoid about being tagged by a neckbeard if they list that as their prefs

instead of, y'know, being the change they want to see or acknowledging that they can just not tag back instead of being worried that they'll get internet cooties

okay i'm now fully convinced the problem is you and the reason you're not providing deets is because giving the full story would prove YTA

so which wanker are you

lol wtf why did you bring this here

(Anonymous) 2025-01-30 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
i have a jrpg character that i actually prefer to play m/f with but i don't list that as a preference anymore because the last time i did, i immediately got hit up by a bunch of female characters all doing exactly that (the wanting a big strong knight type) and it was a huge turnoff to me.

i don't like playing m/m with him as much but at least the m/m ships i've played with him have been ones where both halves of the ship were on a more equal footing, which is what i really want out of a ship.

from what i've seen (on bs, idk about tlh) neckbeards stay in a pretty obvious lane, anyway

i don't think i've ever seen characters who weren't young-looking anime girls get hit up by that crowd. i play f/f from western media and never have
