i hate seeing how many people this has happened to, because it is rather traumatizing. it happened to me where we discussed the characters sleeping together but didn't write it out, and then i woke up the next day to a bunch of ic and ooc drama on the game network about my character raping somebody. even though i tried to clear it up ooc and the other players had to delete the posts about it the damage was already done and i quit. the other player was going on about how traumatized THEY were for their character being "raped" and playing up the sob story and eventually even became mod of that game. i stopped playing in games for a long time after that and even when i started playing again i would not write characters that anyone would ship with just to protect myself. i've only just gotten into shipping again these last couple years and even then i'm super careful with only playing monogamous committed relationships so nothing gets twisted.

yes when i say ota i mean it. my permissions pages usually have age preferences and dynamic preferences so those are my rules. i get tagged by ladies maybe once every three months though so its hardly regular.

i had it happen to me with my character's established partner in game. really fucked me up for a while there especially since a lot of people around them at the time were saying i had no right to be upset about it. everyone who has heard about it since has confirmed it was in fact fucked up to suddenly retcon something as noncon and spring it on me though.

Not on dw, but another rp forum, had my partner try to brand my character without discussing it with me, as part of a larger scene that I felt uncomfortable dropping (and we were writing it in active time). I felt incredibly icky about it and super discomforted because it's one of my hard nos. They were apologetic when I finally talked to them about it and we retconned the scene but it really taught me the importance of being very upfront about hard nos.
