funny story: i was in a game where there was a talked about sex scene between two characters and after the scene, it turned into my char raping theirs and that wasn't at all what we'd discussed or agreed to and i left the game out of anger at how not only the player, but the mods had handled it.

brought it up in an earlier wg post a handful of years ago and the person that had been on the other side of that gave vague deets to see if it was me, it was, and they apologized for it and how it went down. it was weirdly comforting to see, and i'm glad at least one person figured they did a bad and owned up to it. makes me wonder if any of the other parties involved in these scenarios (because there seems to be a lot) have learned anything.

i hate seeing how many people this has happened to, because it is rather traumatizing. it happened to me where we discussed the characters sleeping together but didn't write it out, and then i woke up the next day to a bunch of ic and ooc drama on the game network about my character raping somebody. even though i tried to clear it up ooc and the other players had to delete the posts about it the damage was already done and i quit. the other player was going on about how traumatized THEY were for their character being "raped" and playing up the sob story and eventually even became mod of that game. i stopped playing in games for a long time after that and even when i started playing again i would not write characters that anyone would ship with just to protect myself. i've only just gotten into shipping again these last couple years and even then i'm super careful with only playing monogamous committed relationships so nothing gets twisted.

i had it happen to me with my character's established partner in game. really fucked me up for a while there especially since a lot of people around them at the time were saying i had no right to be upset about it. everyone who has heard about it since has confirmed it was in fact fucked up to suddenly retcon something as noncon and spring it on me though.
