i want to try reading jjk fics but when one half of the big ship is dead for all of canon it's hard to figure out what people would write about without making everything an AU. can someone explain what the general fic content is?

Harry Potter fics are still trucking along and they're about either the parents generation where half of them are dead in present day canon, or they ignore a ton of the deaths in book seven since that's when a lot of characters also died. Ignoring character deaths and sticking to "canon, but X lived" is a common genre of divergent canon au fics.

i don't read the fanfic but there's a lot of unaccounted time between them in their school days and even after geto breaks bad. geto hasn't even been dead that long in canon, only about a year by the time the series ends.
