this. this is the thing. it's the desire for very specific characters. and it's more common with m/f players than m/m or f/f ones for some reason. m/fs will drop threads and ignore a wealth of characters then complain that nobody wants to tag f chars because they aren't getting the one special dick they want.

i play from an obscure af canon and i've still gotten tags from plenty of canonblind randos because i'm open to m/m. i wouldn't even class my character as being especially attractive, either.

they only want f chars being tagged by male characters too, i never see them tag out to other female characters even if the female character they're playing is canonically closer with other women than she is with men

this is why i stopped playing L&D, the love interests make up almost the whole cast and they're all cordoned off from each other. it doesn't feel like you're playing an otome, more like a handful of isolated virtual boyfriends bundled in the same app.

isolated virtual boyfriend (or girlfriend) is the way dating sims have been involving into for a while. if this is your first time seeing it, i envy you tbh. i haven't found a way to filter them from "regular" VNs
