it's been ages since I last engaged with Taco, but boy is she a piece of work. extremely ship thirsty to the point of pushing boundaries, but will go full on no homo if you talk about a queer ship involving one of the characters she plays and not even directly *to* them (true story.)

i've got them blocked for a reason.

I don't see an issue with them not wanting to great about a ship they don't want, queer it otherwise but pushing boundaries is effed up.

it sounds like anon's saying she butts into other people's discussions of gay ships with these characters to be weird about it

I'm not about to out myself, but the tl;dr is this: back in 2014-2015 (idr the exact timeline here,) I had the misfortune of being Taco's castmate in a game. I would often post ship art on my plurk that featured the characters together, and talk about shipping with other players (who happened to the same character she did) in memes, but never did I approach her about it directly. i thought her portrayal of the character in question was pretty bland tbh, and I eventually ended up dropping the game/cutting her from my plurklist, and thought nothing of it.

flash forward to 2016 where a friend and I were planning on apping both halves of the same ship into a game. I actually had no idea Taco was planning on apping into the game, and she slid her reserve in for the same character before my friend had the opportunity. I was a bit disappointed, but slid Taco a DM asking "hey, are we still cool?" considering she and I would be potential castmates there. she told me we were, but wanted to "clear the air" by telling me she didn't want to ship our characters together.

considering I hadn't brought up the prospect of shipping at all in said DM, I was utterly bewildered, and found it lowkey queerphobic tbh. the cut turned into a block that day.

i can't stand taco or her portrayals, but this seems pretty mild imo? if she knew you were very vocal and enthusiastic about that ship, then explaining upfront that she doesn't ship it just seems like she probably didn't want to get your hopes up (unless the way she worded it was very obnoxious?)

my condolences, though. i can imagine few worse castmates to have

imma be real, I didn't have any expectation (or desire, really) in shipping with her. I'd been enthusiastic about it in my own space, sure. I guess I just found it weirdly hostile in a situation where I was trying to reestablish communication with her (albeit, limited) being in the position of potentially being in a cast with her again, with no desire to even re-add her on plurk/sticking to dms.

on the flip side, I was aware she'd been hounding a mutual for tags and ships in an entire different game around the same timeframe, with the angle of giving their character 'paying them in sex,' which made my friend uncomfortable with them as a castmate. so, yikes all around.
