i don't think people care in the grand scheme of things.

being "ic enough" means different things to different people. it depends on preferences and agenda, too. i've seen people claim ic things are ooc, entirely because they were bitter over ships or cr or because they wanted to deny some part of canon that was "inconvenient" to their interpretation of the character.

there's also characters i almost never see being ic on dwrp that still get plenty of cr both in and outside of games. sometimes, the ooc version is actually very popular and accepted, either because people got the wrong idea about the character, or simply don't give a fuck as long as they're on the receiving end of tags.

there's also a subset of rpers who couldn't be ic even if they tried, because their writing is so fucking bland

that one former lab mod who threw a huge fit when her character wasn't chosen as the love interest in a non-canon ship, so she went around talking shit and claiming the other players were being ooc, but it was all based in one of them not hooking up with her (clearly used as self-insert) female character
