that's why i'm wondering what TDM they're looking at. two versions of one character isn't a big deal and i haven't seen a TDM with more jayces than that recently.

1) just because the anon was only looking for anime canons doesn't mean we need an anime exclusive roll call. anime players can still comment to a regular roll call and that anon can scroll past any series they're not interested in.

2) also, just because someone requested it doesn't make ayrt wrong about it being a repeat of yesterday's 'everyone get in here,' just limited in medium. what would have been different is the usual type of roll call geared towards ooc chatter where you reply to your canon's header, or an animanga only meme that at least provided prompts.

so tired of app cycles that are every other month. i get it we're all getting old so mods don't have time to babysit a game monthly but every game i've joined that uses this format is 1) filled with flakes who do the bare minimum because 2) momentum is non-existent

flakes are going to flake whether you have an app cycle a month, every other month or open apps all the time.

flakes will find a way to flake no matter what. a game will only be as active as the players it attracts.

app cycles, ac requirements, game plot, etc don't really have any effect on it.

disagree. sure flakes are gonna flake but it’s also harder to bring in new blood because when you show prospective players the game not only do they see inactivity they also have to wait up to two months if they miss an app cycle. and with many games nowadays having planned endings, some of them for no longer than two to one year? that’s a lot of missed game time that’ll have people going no thanks

somewhat related, the problem with staggered app cycles is that games are a lot easier to destabilize too. five characters drop? gotta wait up to two months to get new blood. and if the game has less than, say, thirty characters? you start to notice it

Most games these days are locked anyway, so they're not going to see anything outside of the TDMs or what people screenshot.

Games with preplanned endings in a year or two or games with less than 30 characters probably arent the kinds of games that should be having bimonthly apps, I'll agree! But no app solution is going to be a one size fits all sort of thing either.

I also don't want mods burning out, especially since the pool of people willing to run games is smaller than ever. It's a complicated thing to balance if you're thinking about all of these things.

tbh i think it still applies, mostly because of the numbers. most small games i've seen never really grow big even if their app cycles are open all the time or have monthly apps. a lot of people blame it on AC or apps or whatever but tbh if your game isn't attractive to the group you want to attract, new blood won't likely trickle in any faster nor will it really fix the activity.

it's hard to explain but to me the easiest tell is if the skin/texture looks 'melted' for lack of a better word. way too smooth and flowy in a way hand drawn/real life photos can't be. it lacks sharpness/well defined transitions, like an anime screenshot having borders that seamlessly melt into each other

i look for lines that don't connect, folds of clothing that just melt into each other/the background, and other such aberrations (that can't be otherwise explained by the artist's style)

whenever i see a comic character 'AU' to force them into the respective live action universe i know that player doesn't like the character and has made a strategic choice of cock hopability
