Honestly? You kind of gave them a boring tag. Realistically speaking, 95% of people would apologize and keep right on going to their destination. Bumping into a stranger doesn't usually result in lasting bonds, and it's not like the other character can read your character's mind and be like, "hmm, he's standing there and thinking about me, I should probably say something." That's not how interaction works. You didn't give them a reason to stop and talk to your character at all.
They could have picked up the thread from there, but speaking for myself, I would have dropped it because I would have immediately assumed I was going to end up carrying the whole thing, and ain't nobody got time for that.
