over an ooc intro?

nothing says welcome to our game more than no one welcoming you to the game. who cares? lol we didn't.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
some games just don't reply to every ooc intro, especially when there's a lot of them. if you'd been talking about your ic intros I'd understand, but this just seems petty. probably best for the game you guys got out of there, though.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
there wasn't and at least a mod could've said welcome to the game. but you're right. the quality of the game is so much better now that we decided not to join.

i thought this was game pet peeves, how is this not a legit pet peeve.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Just because it's a pet peeve doesn't mean people can't call you out as a whiny tittybaby for having that pet peeve.

But there's a difference between having this as a pet peeve and fucking dropping over it right off the bat. Who the fuck cares if people don't reply to your OOC intro? The IC intro is what matters. Now people will see you two as flakes who app only to drop.

The game is probably better off without you.

i never reply to ooc intros. if the character interests me, i'll tag their ic intro when that goes up because that's the part that actually matters.

and no, i don't give a fuck if people reply to my ooc intro posts either.

Response to your OOC intro isn't any gauge of the friendliness of the game. It's a gauge of how many people are on when your OOC intro goes up.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not entirely true. There are some important details that can go up in an ooc post like permissions and such. It would be nice to have a response or two that shows that someone is paying attention.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it IS true. It's not the right thing to do, but it is what happens.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Forgot: that, and the fact people barely look at the ooc comm these days.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That seems like a stupid thing to drop over.

And I say that as someone who never replies to ooc intros. It's not like the posts are there for any real interaction beyond the standard, 'hi'. They're more there to let people know that your account is relevant to the game.

Hilarious how many butthurt people try to pounce on you. You're exactly right and I can't blame you. Not welcoming people to a game is generally a bad sign. Games that don't usually die very quickly, so leaving is a pretty good idea to begin with.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
op is the butthurt one. what kind of moron drops a game for being unwelcoming without even trying to rp there first? so what if her friend didn't get replies on her ooc intro. big fucking deal. it could have been a fucking boring intro, people could have been busy, it could have been buried under a bunch of other posts, everyone could have been more occupied with, you know, rping...

dropping because a game didn't reply to your friend's ooc into is the dumbest overreaction i've seen in a while.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
show more buttpain please. OP and probably dodged a bullet by not getting invested into a failing game. There's nothing for them to be butthurt by, you can find a game easily where people are actually welcoming to newbies.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
how am i buttpained? i'm not the gameless crybaby here. idk how you're getting "failing game" from op's friend not getting ooc replies, but damn, you're reaching for the stars.

they might've blown off a perfectly newbie-friendly game because of their impatience and diva personalities.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I've dropped a game over that before. But it was a game I was having second thoughts about anyhow, so that was just me getting even more second thoughts and the straw that broke the camel's back by that point.

And by the way, I do disagree with the anon who said the acceptance notice is the mods welcoming you. Most games have a very formal copy and paste acceptance notice that is completely and utterly impersonal in the effort to sound professional and get in all the info needed. It's nice to see at least one of the mods make a more personal touch and it only takes a couple of minutes and makes a huge difference between a new player feeling the game is welcoming and them starting to have second thoughts and increasing the chances that they won't even last past their IC intro.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
if you were having second thoughts about a game before you even made an ooc intro, let's be frank, you shouldn't have applied in the first place

also i don't know why you're telling me about your disagreement with that other anon, i didn't say anything about mods anywhere. sure, it's nice if they reply, but i mean, come on. realistically, they're probably not going to have time

I don't think you know what buttpain means. That or you're the OP sameanoning. But either way, you're wrong.

buttflustered friend of op alert

i don't respond to ooc intros unless it's (a) a castmate or (b) a character i recognize and am excited for, because "hi i'm (blank) i play (blank) i hope you have fun here!!!" gets super old to type after the thirtieth new ooc intro

apply desitin and move on

(Anonymous) 2013-04-09 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
Unless I know the person, the person mentions they're brand new to DWRP as a whole or if I'm super excited for the character they play, I don't comment to their intro. I've seen people get no ooc intro replies but go on to get HUNDREDS of comments on their IC intro.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-08 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
in my experience, people only comment on ooc intros of people whose characters they have some interest in. castmates, fans of whatever fandom you play from, that kind of thing. then, exceptionally funny/entertaining/interesting ooc intros get tags for obvious reasons.

/shrugs

it's a stupid reason to drop whichever way you put it.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-11 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
do you comment to every single ooc intro? I think you must play in smaller games than I do.

Y'know, there's a difference between "Replying to every OOC intro" and "Replying to an OOC intro that has been tagged by literally nobody except a mun who also just OOC intro'd just to make sure they feel welcomed."

Also, I love all the "
