I think you might be missing the part where the person is probably in a constant state of crisis because of recent events. I was like this when I lost someone who was basically a mother to me, and it wasn't pretty. Posting logged-in isn't as big of a deal when you realize they're not white-knighting for cookies, they're legitimately defending a friend who's going through a terrible time and catching flak for being understandably emotional about it.
It's a hard thing for many people to go through, and it can affect how you see everything in your life. I know this is the hate meme, but please try and understand this.
