what kind of posts do you not like to see in this game? i know gym battles, poképosts, and the like get old fast. as someone who tags more than posts, i just want to know what kind of ideas would be best to avoid so that when i do post i make something accessible.
in my experience, execution determines this more than subject-matter does. Unless you're specifically posting something intended to further development with specific people, try to avoid anything that no one would care about except characters who already have CR with yours.
For example:
A video post consisting of your character saying "Oh yeah, I caught a Venonat! Isn't he cute?" and shifting the view over to their new Pokemon isn't going to be interesting to anyone but the people your character knows personally.
A video post of your character capturing the Pokemon in an interesting way, or including specific and interesting information and/or questions about the Pokeon's species, is much more likely to be gt a response from the playerbase at large instead of just the people you already know.
Basically, the best thing you can do before you post something is look it over and ask yourself "If I was not familiar with this character at all and had never threaded with them, is this something I would feel interested in responding to?"
am I the only one who keeps side eying the Tsunade here? her canon point is supposedly from recent arcs, but she acts a lot more like she's from way earlier.
Look, anon, if you have any crit for me or any questions, I'm more than happy to answer them/discuss them on the HMD post I have up in her journal. I know that a lot of what I've done lately hasn't exactly been the right moves, but I really would rather hear this over there than over here.
I don't bite, I really don't and it's not secret that Tsunade's a character I haven't played in a little while so I really do listen to any crit I may get (which right now seems to be none and that always worries me when my HMDs stay quiet).
OP here. like I said, wanted to see if anyone else thought so, or if it was just me misinterpreting. since I'm not as familiar with recent canon, I wanted to see what others thought before going direct to you. I'll type up something for you HMD now regardless.
Thank you, anon, I really do appreciate hearing that. Sorry if I might have come off a bit snippy there, but I really do like hearing others' points of view on these things.
I don't think she's like any canon point. She's fun to play with, but, Tsunade's a lot more diplomatic and able to handle various issues. She's the hokage. Yet, here, she's being strung around by pokémon. I get that sometimes, even in canon, summons aren't exactly authoritative, but Tsunade should have the smarts to side step most problems and should be able to handle her temper and not be as aggressive/willing to resort to violence. For a canon example, she could have fought Pain but, instead, she healed villagers instead. This type of "are peaceful solutions better?" thoughtfulness isn't very approachable in Tsunade, who fights and becomes aggressive only when necessary now.
Me too anon. =) I know the purpose of wankgate is, well, to take out our grievances, but it's nice to see that whenever something is brought up it's - far more often than not - not baseless and ends up being discussed in a mature way.
I personally think journal format suits this game better. It allows for action posts, something rarely seen in community games because they're used as an IC communication network. Additionally, "real life" actions are moved to the logs where are often never really looked at.
I find maintaining this isn't so hard now that dreamwidth doesn't limit your admin console and I just use route's ooc comm's friendslist to go through my entries like a comm.
If you're not in the game, how do you know it was more fun when it started? How do you know it's not fun NOW?
I for one am really happy with all the development my character has had here and a reboot would mean ditching all of that and starting from scratch, which doesn't sound fun at all. What about the game needs a reboot, aside from the fact that journal games are "so 2000"?
When Mayfield went from a journal game to a comm game it still allowed action posts, though. If Route became a comm game it wouldn't have to give that up.
mayfield was a special case. there was no need for a communication network because they only had 1950 phones. all other interactions had to be done face to face.
when it's a community, i just notice people stray away from action posts. which makes sense on most levels, but i'd rather not kill action posts because of it.
Okay? Everyone in game enjoys the format and doesn't see a need for a reboot, though. It's a fun place to be, but it's just not for you, anon. And that's okay!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-15 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)I also think it should be rebooted. Route was a lot more fun when it was just starting.
