When somebody you hate apps into a game you really wanted to join and apps a castmate of the character you wanted to app on top of it. Sucks, because I really liked the game otherwise.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

When somebody you hate, and who you know hates you, starts talking about apping in to a game you're already in, not just as a castmate, but as 1/3 of your OT3.

Bonus points when the player of the other 1/3 of the OT3 hates the apper too.

Our game is a fairly small game. Because of that, it is HELLA noticeable that you're only in it for the cliques. Tag more than just your usual two people, motherfucker.

This happens in the game i'm in.

Why are you so allergic to tagging people that aren't your castmates?

goddamnit you're the one playing the social character here, if all you do is give me bland one liners i'm going to be hard-pressed to have my character do anything other than just curtly answer the question and then move on

(Anonymous) 2013-04-14 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Ever get a castmate who's own ooc intro sends off warning flags? Not sure if I should correct this person's horrendous characterization or go straight to the mods for accepting the application in the first place.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-14 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Do both?

If the mods aren't cannon familiar they may only have the wiki to judge off of. Go to the mods you can make them aware of what issues there could be, then go to the player and offer crit once they've actually started RPing. Sometimes people are purposely stupid/ooc in their OOC intros for the lulz of it.

As a mod, please, always, yes.

Wikis are worded in weird way sometimes, apps are worded in weirder, and what seemed like it makes sense to someone outside the canon might be a clear red flag for someone who knows it.

i play a god-modey character and some players in my game keep having this weird pissing contest trying to prove their characters are more powerful than my god-mode.

i... i don't get. it's not like my character ever gets into battles - he's one of these super powerful creatures that aren't interested in fighting. in fact, most characters wouldn't be able to notice ICly how powerful he is because he acts like a normal guy. i list his abilities in the app for reference complete with a note saying this guy doesn't give a crap about fighting, so what's with this weird obssesion to have your characters provoke him?

i know rpres don't like having their characters coming off as any less than perfect but holy shit it's like a goku vs superman argument

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2013-04-14 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Quick, try to think of something Superman and Goku might fight about. GO.

This is pretty much the same thing as villain infomodding. They're usually the same people who won't accept the consequences if your character does go out and shred them a new one, because their precious babbus should totally win. Eventually you end up literally fighting over it when you didn't want any part of it in the first place.

It's even weirder when your character is not only the strongest in their canon, but is also one of the oldest, and it's teenage kids saying "WELL I COULD BEAT YOU SO THERE."

It's hard not to have the character just stare and go "bitchplz"

a thread on the second page reminded me how fucking annoying pushy enablers are

"sorry, not interested/i don't have time for another game" is not secret code for "please continue to deadcat and beg me to join like that's going to change my mind or suddenly give me more free time"

When someone gets butthurt because no one is expressing excitement about a particular game thread even though they've linked it several times and no one seems to be looking.

Things like that just make me twitch. Personally, I don't expect people to cream themselves with excitement over my threads, so I guess things like that are just confusing to me.

I've never understood the appeal of "facetwin shenanigans" in games. You'd think something like that would have a creepy psychological effect on someone but it feels like more often it's always just played up for crack. I don't know I just think I'd be pretty freaked if I met a doppelgänger. Maybe try to kill them before they kill me first.

If you only post and never tag out, I will not tag you. You get your chance the first couple of posts. I'll tag in. If I don't see you tagging out with your character (not necessarily on my posts, but any of them) I won't tag you again. You can find some other patsy to thread with you and provide AC.

Even antisocial characters can come up with a reason to talk to people, you lazy, entitled sack.

When someone constantly talks about how they want to thread/log with me, gets a couple of tags in and then just drops it.

I'm this close to just ignoring your tags. It happens every single time.

Re: GAME PET PEEVES

1) People who don't tag their posts correctly.

2) People who don't use proper punctuation, capitalization, etc... in their log or main comm posts.

3) People who don't space their text so it ends up being a huge wall o'text.

Game accepts fanmade AUs. Yay! But game does not accept personality swap AUs? Well, of course not. Completely understandable. Game proceeds to accept Homestuck bloodswap AUs? Are you fucking kidding me. That is all bloodswaps are. They take a character and swap around whatever aspects of their personality that the creator decides would be affected by their blood/text color. But I guess because it obviously changes the appearance and history of a character that suddenly makes it a-okay?

gamemates who are outright afraid or hateful towards hmds and crit. i don't mean people who are a little nervous, because hey, that's natural, especially for new players or when new characters are involved. but if i see someone go into fullblown shaking and crying mode i always assume that they're an obnoxious, oversensitive little fuck

The inevitable deluge of "lol what was that"/"what the hell was that about"/"but what are your thoughts.on this"/"insert vague cryptic smug diatribes"/"OMG WHAT" posts after some major event goes down in a game, when there is literally an ic broadcast not three entries down that explains the entire thing. The hysterical idiot types I'll give a pass to since they might not think before they run their mouth but when it's an intellectual or at least more intelligent and likely to actually, you know, check around for info first, character making some vaguely superiour sounding post asking the same damn shit as every other headless chicken then I get pissed.

Just once I'd like to reply to one of those icly with "here you go, idiot" or something along those lines, but noooo that'd be a douchebag move.
