All three times I've been to America as an adult I've lost quarter of a stone in two weeks just because I find it hard to find anything to eat that isn't processed to the point of no longer being edible to my tastes (I'm vegetarian as well, which doesn't help). And I don't have a good diet at home, I'm overweight. I don't think Americans actually realise how bad their food actually is.

Although I do realise that America's a big place and my visits have all been west coast places, but I went to Boston when I was a kid and I don't remember it being much better.

which part of the west coast anon? if you go to places that have more minorities (like California where there's a big Asian-American population) you're bound to find more markets that sell fresh stuff that isn't processed

Washington/Oregon border (although last time we went to disneyland too which was surprisingly good on vegetarian options but I can't eat when it's that hot out). I only go to visit a friend, and I think his town is classed as small by American standards? It's bigger than the city I live in, but doesn't have a lot of minorities as far as I can tell so.

And it's probably a good thing for me to lose some weight, I just find it amusing that someone that has such a shit diet to start off with can't deal with American food.

I live in California where there's a surprising amount of farmers.

Either way, living on the west california coast has given me several vegetarian options. you should really try SF in this case. It has more green options than LA, but it doesn't have the oppressive heat.
