Yeah, body positivity in itself is no issue at all.
And there's also the issue that a lot of US companies in poor areas pretty much only stock processed food, because it's ultra cheap to make (thus gives them a LOT more profit than selling healthy food would have, since the poor people usually don't KNOW they could eat better). A lot of poor people in the US have limited access to proper food.
In my area, making a healthy meal from stuff you buy is easy. YOu can't get the same healthy meal for the same price in a poor area, because it's just not stocked.
Instead the stuff stocked is oversalted, oversugared and overfatted, meaning that you eat more, too - it's manipulating brain chemistry (no, seriously - this works on animals too).
It's pretty damn disgusting what the companies get away with.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-14 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)My grandfather can't find any bell peppers, non-red apples, oranges, or even different kinds of salads.
My supermarket, with the same name, carries five different kinds of bell peppers, 8 kinds of apples, oranges and a lot more.
Well, at least the poor version has lots more pizza? Yay?
