correction: noir works best for batfam, not all of dc. dc is not just batfam.

for instance, stuff like green lantern would be good marvel style, as would superman, too. and i'd love to see a bombastic thor style treatment of wonder woman.

there's a few other characters nolan-style would be good for, but supes isn't one of them. in fact, the stuff that would be good for nolan will never be made, like a question movie.

and that's your opinion. i, personally, am looking forward to this kind of superman.

plus, nolan is good with action. it's just not the same as whedon action. but that's what i like about the differences. they both offer me something varying styles and different stories. kinda like marvel and dc.

i'm not completely writing it off, but really, we don't need a grimdark superman

have we not learned how hard it fails when we see the need to make every superhero grimdark

superman needs cheese, and nolan takes all the cheese out of it. i even think he went too far with batman, even, unpopular opinion. yes, batman's dark as fuck, but honestly some of nolan's batman is so up its own ass it's not even funny.

give me marvel universe any day of the week. at least it's aware of its utter ridiculousness and doesn't need to couch itself in gritty realism.

yes, i buttmad because i'm a dc girl at heart and it pains me to see second-tier at best marvel shit (like captain american FUCKING REALLY) get made and get made GOOD when we can't even get a motherfucking flash or wonder woman movie because dc thinks only srs shit sells.

I had a million issues with Nolanverse Batman but the way Bruce was written I could not feel sympathy for him at all. Bruce is a huge shit in the comics at times but he's had many moments where sympathy from the readers could be evoked. Nolanverse characters ended up so largely unsympathetic and I'm not sure how that's even possible.

And anyway, a grimdark Superman means people have missed the point of the character.

idk I would kill for a Red Son universe version, and that would be grimdark as hell.

then apparently i've missed the point of the character. or i've just never been that interested.

this is pretty much the first version of superman i'm interested in. all the others bored me.

are you thinking it's going to be grimdark simply because Nolan's involved?

i'm not getting a grimdark vibe from the new trailer. to be honest it seems like the supes i've always known, the one that's supposed to inspire. the movie looks fun as shit

And to quote Nolan:
"I wouldn’t want people to think we’re doing for Superman what we did for Batman. It’s very much Zack’s film and I think people are going to love what he’s done. I think it’s really remarkable to take on that character. Superman is a completely different character than Batman. So you can’t in anyway use the same template. But David Goyer had this, I thought, brilliant way to make Superman relatable and relevant for his audience. Zack has built on that and I think it’s incredible what he’s putting together. He’s got a lot of finishing to do on that. Superman is the biggest comic book character of them all and he needs the biggest possible movie version which is what Zack’s doing. It’s really something."

IN NOLAN WE TRUST

at least i do.

Yeah exactly! Honestly I'm more worried about the movie turning out more like Watchmen or 300 than the Dark Knight trilogy. But realistically, I have a good feeling about the combination, I think those two guys will keep each other in a good balance.

i was dubious as hell because nolan's name was attached until i saw the trailer. i'm feeling way more optimistic about it now, i love superman but haven't read a good story for him in ages, so i'm hoping this will fill the void somewhat.
