I think the problem right now is that we've had two months of less than riveting plot events combined with the end of the school semester dragging down posting/tagging speed etc etc.

Don't get me wrong, I love the CR I got out of the lighter events we've had recently but when the last really big UE-related plot that actually felt like Serious Business was the bombing plot back in, what? September? Things start to drag a bit.

Here's to hoping the next few plots coming out of the game are a little more focused/with actual stakes. Exsilium constantly touts that gamewide missions will have lasting consequences on the world itself, but other than some negligible bomb damage and a sassy AI there hasn't been much change at all in five months.

Honestly, I think it's due to the changes in the mod team and the passing on of the game. It also got huge fast, so I can sort of understand the plot being stalled while everyone tried to settle as best as they could with the fast pacing and size of the game.

The private missions are finally opened so I'm definitely going to be getting on that.

Oh yeah no, I agree that there's totally reasons to warrant the dragging pace of the game - there's been a lot of changes to Exsilium recently both in terms of population and who's running the show, so it's understandable that things have been a little bumpy. I'm just hoping that improves in the future.

With private missions open again and Ishmael (who is, from everything I've seen of her, nothing but capable and competent) as one of the new headmods I'm hopeful that things will start to get traction again.

i think you hit the nail on the head. things have dragged lately, and i'm sure i wasn't the only person who was less than thrilled with some of the lighter events that have gone on lately. the drops are understandable.

i'm personally sticking around to see if the plots pick up and have a little more focus in the near future, but if they don't, i may be out too.

This was why I ended up dropping. I joined for plot, but the missions that came up when I was there were really just more for fun than anything else and that's not what I signed up for, plus the whole bodyswap/age-change events. I have nothing against stuff like that but two in a row in what I thought was supposed to be a serious game was just sort of off-putting.

I really don't like the lighter events. I joined because I LIKED the plot-heavy serious mission stuff, Body-Swapping is not what I wanted. Seriously, if I wanted that I'd go back to C&C.

I wish the original mods hadn't decided to leave, they obviously had a vision for where the game was going.

Not really. They had a strong start but couldn't handle much more beyond that. Honestly it seemed like the original mods ran out of ideas.

the old mod stuff was getting samey and i got so sick of the favoritism. i feel more comfortable with the mods we have now.

No kidding. It was always extremely uncomfortable when they begged for asspats too.

Honestly, I don't really blame the new mod team for the lighter events - it gave them some time to get reorganized after the mod changeover and was an okay way at dealing with the population explosion in terms of IC stuff (because I can make sense out of issues arising with the tech as a result of pulling more transports etc). Could they have done things differently? Sure, but at the same time I don't really fault the new mods for needing some time to organize. I'd rather have two lighthearted events (the latter really a byproduct of the former, IC-wise) than nothing at all. I'm just hoping that from here on out we buckle down and get a little bit serious about UE stuff.

While this is all speculation on my part, I trust if the original mods had any sort of plan for Exsilium they would've passed that on to the new mods. Anyway, they dropped modding for a reason: too busy, too much stress, etc., etc.,. I'd rather have a mod team with the time and energy to dedicate to the game than one that doesn't have time to manage much.

You bring up a good point that if the old mods actually had a vision they probably would pass it along to the new mods. I'm happy with our current mods, because they really are invested in the game.

newsflash maybe, just maybe, the old mods were invested in the game

and just maybe, shit happened

and MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, constant and unending anonymous bullshit about a fucking roleplaying game on the internet became less tolerable than being an adult operating in real life

hope that helps y'all

...this game doesn't get a lot of anonymous complaints honestly

it didn't when the old mods were around and it doesn't now

i'm also not really seeing anywhere here where people questioned the old mod's investment in the game??? i mean, in the convo above sure but idk what anon is getting prickly about here

I can see this being a reason but I still find it kind of weird it seems to be happening all at once, in a nearly 48 hour period.
