It's true. I do think the game is mostly really great, but it has problems like any other game and there are a few players who could use some solid crit and aren't getting it because of the mentality that it has to be happy sunshine all the time. It also encourages players to act like crit is a personal attack, which one of them is currently doing.
Exactly. No game is perfect and drama-free, and while Eway has a lot less drama than other games I've been in, it isn't all happy sunshine 24/7.
I really had high hopes that the player in question would take the crit and learn something from it, and part of me still hopes they at least take some of it to heart.
They seem to be looking for every excuse not to take it, from being angry that the person left it anon (who can blame that anon if this is how she takes crit?) to pointing out that they have a lot going on IRL, as if that's an excuse to play four characters and write 3 word tags all over instead of playing fewer characters and doing fewer threads.
They've also implied in several places that they don't really want to improve or put more effort in, because the game is supposed to be a place where they don't have to worry about being good, which makes me side-eye a lot.
I did side-eye most of that, too. I get being busy IRL and dealing with a huge class load or whatever else she said, but when that was me in that situation? I stopped RPing until I knew I had the time to pick it up again. But something tells me suggesting that to her, or suggesting that she scale it back a bit wouldn't be taken very well.
crit-giver here. I did suggest that after she told me that she was so busy IRL. I can understand why that might make someone tag slower or have to hiatus some or all of their characters, but I don't think it's a valid excuse for tags that have no content. If you don't have time, you don't keep picking up so many characters.
