Look, this game is slow. It's a place where 'backtag friendly' actually means 'you're never going to get anything but backtags', okay?

Which is fine, because RPers are getting older now and have jobs and can't be on the internet 24/7 these days.

But I do think that the AC should be changed so that people aren't being screwed over by dropped threads so much. Yeah having the AC be smut tags was an innovative idea but it just doesn't work when players are this slow.

I understand where you're coming from, but I'm hesitant to see the AC moved to gen comments and the game turned into another Amat or Zodion.

The new mods might consider having a slightly higher smut AC every other month, with a gen AC in the meantime - so month one is thirty gen comments and a top level network or log post, month two is twenty five (?) comments of smut, the next month is gen, and so on and so forth. The requirements would be higher, but tbh, getting twenty five comments of smut in two months between links of 5+ threads shouldn't be that hard.

But then the entire game will default to gen comments for their AC. You could get an entire month's activity done in around a day or two if you tagged a bunch of different network posts, and then you're free to slack through the rest of the month.

Not saying it's the best option, but at least the AC we have now keeps people active.

I disagree that the AC we have now is making people more active.

In my experience, it actually makes people less active, as they turn down new CR opportunities in favor of smutting it up with the same people they've always smutted with in fear of coming across a flake or thread-dropper that will screw your AC.

I don't consider tagging the same smut thread for three months in order to make AC to be 'active'.

Still, I'd rather have people smutting primarily with the same people and otherwise tagging around for gen CR than rattle off threads the day before AC that they'll drop as soon as they're long enough.

Our AC isn't ideal, but I can't think of one person in the game right now that's been here for over one month and is completely inactive.

They don't otherwise tag around for gen CR though. Because if they fuck around with gen tags they'll never get their smut tags done, and since you need smut for AC then gen goes out the window.

And I can think of several inactive characters.

Most people have one or two reliable smut threads going and otherwise tag around. If you have to devote the entirety of your tagging attention to one or two threads, you really don't need to be rping at all.

And by inactive, I meant actual squatters. Emma squatters.

god please no. the whole reason i joined this game was because the AC was smut and not gen comments. having to write smut comments in a smut game should not be something people get all bitchy over.

if people are having such a problem threading porn fast enough to meet such an easy AC, they really should drop. this game is clearly not for them.

What about both? A smut thread (of any amount of comments from you), along with a gen thread. The smut thread has to show that it is, definitely, heading towards sex.

Maybe they should provide a third AC option where you can link up to four threads to get your ten comments so long as in all those threads you were not the one that dropped. Still smut comments, but people don't get fucked by droppers and the droppers will still have to do some other thread up to ten comments.

I would go for that idea. It has the added bonus of being able to see who all the thread droppers are at AC time and making a point to avoid starting threads with them later on.

can I have this for all the games I'm in? I want this for all the games I'm in.

i don't want to see a gen option for ac. coa is the only smut game with a smut ac. that's why i joined. if someone's short on tags, what about making a post to ask whether anyone would be willing to help them make ac. do you guys think this would be acceptable or would it be frowned on?

i've always make ac. i ask people on my timeline if they need help meeting their smut count. i've seen other people on my timeline do the same thing but plurk is a limited venue for communication.

if i saw someone asking for ac smut on the ooc community then i'd help them. i might not be the only one. i don't mean players using it to character sit but if their threads have been dropped etc. maybe there could be a regular post toward the end of the month for something like this if it's a real issue in the game.

i would seriously drop if gen became an option for ac because i'm here to mostly play smut. i love my gen threads but that interaction is mostly facilitated by the sex

i'd be in favor of an AC help post or just a general info post where people are honest about their tagging speeds and attention spans (wishful thinking). i've never had any trouble making AC though, but i know it's because i don't depend on the molasses taggers

the people complaining should probably vary up their cr a little more. most of the game tags at a decent speed, more than enough to make ac. just because the people you want to play with the most don't tag you back fast enough/are flakes doesn't mean the game itself needs to change to accommodate your poor choices and time management

take some fucking initiative and seek out the people who can tag at a comfortable speed for you and stop trying to make your AC everyone else's responsibility. if this is too hard, then maybe you should find another game.

I'm not technically in the game right now (I'm currently apping in this round) but isn't AC just ten (smut) comments a month? If you can't tag at the speed of roughly once every three days you don't need to be in a game to begin with.

yeah, it's only 10 smut comments per month. they can even be split between two threads of 5 + 5. i'm not a fast tagger but i still get my ac done with plenty to time to spare. you have to be consistent and plan your smut threads in my experience but it's not hard.

what about doing the cr meme twice a month?

i know i get a lot of bites on the meme but usually if i don't get something going within a week or so of the meme, they get lost until the next meme

i think the trick with cr memes is to just follow through. i keep tabs on what i've planned and make sure to pm the player or hit them on plurk if i have them on my timeline. that usually gets the ball rolling.

otherwise it's like you said, things get lost until the next meme.

We already have basically two or more CR memes a month: the regular one plus anything for events. I keep a list of people who are interested in CR with me and try to get in touch with them (plurk/PM/etc) when the thread with their character makes sense to do. (AKA I get threads wrapped up and feel like I can handle more, or timing is right).

if we really have to have a gen element added to ac then it should be something like:

a log thread with at least ten comments and at least five of which must be smut

gen comments that are made outside of smut threads should not be admissible to pass ac unless you're new

if you have to resort to all gen then your character goes into re-ed same as now

i do not want a gen option that lets people spam oneliners on the network to get by because then this game will revert to a network-heavy commentspam shitfest where nobody actually threads sex and everyone ignores the log comm like in every other sex game

status ac already discourages thread dropping
