If a player showed me enough incomplete threads and this wasn't something they'd done before, I would give them one chance.

why? why should i give another chance to a player who didn't try to tag someone else instead of waiting on flakes?

Because there are a lot of factors, such as how much the AC at the specific game is. If they have an amount of activity that is comparable to or even more than AC, but is spread out over too many things, I could forgive that once, because it's clear that they wound up with slow threads and not because they didn't try. In cases like that, it's usually an issue of the qualifying threads being only a few comments short, anyway. I'd also look at the dates of the threads. Were they all started right before AC in an attempt to cram things in? If a player is always barely sliding by and clearly just shows up for AC every month, they deserve to fail AC, but when a player is usually active and reliable, I'm not going to punish them for one small fuck-up.

not because they didn't try

But that's exactly what it is. You can't honestly tell me there isn't a single person on your game that won't drop a thread after a couple of comments. Having the right ac but spread out isn't being active, it's leaving a comment here and there for the sake of it. That's the reason why threads are asked to be of a certain length - I've seen too many squatters pass AC with threads of two/three responses.

I just said I would let it go once for an otherwise active player. Sometimes people have a tough month. Active players don't just stop trying for no reason.

And that's why the hiatus post exists.

jfc the hiatus post shouldn't be required if you tag out a ton but the threads all fall through for reasons that aren't their fault

that's what's meant by a tough month in this situation
