Players who obsess about completely random trivial shit. I'm not talking about things that look like they might be plot important if you squint, I mean players who play twenty questions about fish, or the kinds of flowers in a decorative garden, or the fiber content of socks in the setting. And god forbid you tell them it's not important, they can just make shit up, because they will harp on those trivial details endlessly.
but i need to know if they're cotton or wooool my precious baby is vegan and won't wear wool i have to know if he is going sockless why won't you tell me this?
If you're trying to micromanage your character's food supply and stock of tulips or whatever, you need to go play the fucking Sims or something, not a text based game.
one of the Trans 9 mods was notorious for micromanaging what happened at the tavern. iirc her big pet peeve was people using straws or ordering things like juice or hot chocolate.
Like someone else mentioned, players like this are born from mods who micromanage. I tend to be the kind of person who wings it on minor details that haven't been described in the game info and I've been contacted by several mods over the span of several games over nitpicky bullshit that shouldn't make any difference to anyone. Get enough of that and you run every single stupid detail by the mods first so that none of them jumps up your ass for mentioning offhand that a building was yellow instead of green or that kind of flower doesn't grow at this time of year.
I don't mind player questions, but when you've already told someone that it's unimportant/they should wing it and then they still need you to clarify, it's a bit much.
People tend to understand when it's a busy time of year but otherwise you're on top of your shit.
When it's one busy time after another and the whole game has ground to a halt because people haven't been able to get NPC responses, apps processed in under a month, plots approved and off the ground and answers to simple questions then calling a mod useless is pretty much founded. There might be good reasons for it? But if someone is going to be that busy for that long it's time to start thinking about delegating more practical responsibility to co-mods or stepping down.
That might not even apply to you, because I've seen mods get picked at for bullshit reasons like getting a page updated one day later than usual, but I've also seen busy mods who don't realize or don't care that their inability to do mod work killed their game.
Being referred to by name when things are chill and everyone's happy, but then being referred to as "The Mod(s)" when they're unhappy.
When players can comment on the most pointless of plurks you make or set up CR with you, and yet cannot seem to come to you when they have questions/concerns about the game and refer to you as "The Mod(s)" when complaining about you behind your back. Or hell, in a plurk that they know is visible to you.
Because mods are supposed to be emotionless professional robots who don't have to be treated with basic respect. You know, just like how you're free to shit on waitresses and retail drones as much as you want because ~the customer is always right,~ amirite?
As if more proof was needed that dwrp is full of spoiled upper/middle class white girls.
Most of us would prefer players come to us directly, afaik, especially if they have no issue talking to us the rest of the time. Once you throw a temper tantrum somewhere instead of bringing your issues to the mods themselves, you look a whole lot less credible. People have the right to be upset but tend to forget this is a hobby for us too.
That's not really an internet RP thing though. That's just a social/culture thing, and it's not necessarily bad either. You'll notice it if you work anywhere for an extended period of time. Part of it to avoid conflict. They're pinning the decisions they don't like on your job (as a mod) or a group of people making a decision, rather than you as a person. It's less confrontational to say "I'm mad about this mod decision" than to say "I'm mad about the decision Mary Sue made". Also unless you're the only mod at your game, a lot of times players don't have a lot of insight to who made the decision or what goes on behind the scenes.
Players who try to claim their AC failures are everyone else's fault. Yes, sometimes you're unlucky enough to get stuck threading with a bunch of flakes, but if you've tagged into all of two things all month, and one of them three days before the month ended, you don't get to whine that your not making AC is the fault of your thread partner tagging too slowly.
Also if you are usually a very active player, I'm more inclined to let an activity slip slide for one month, especially if there's a clear reason that is out of the players control. If you're always barely passing AC, you can't be surprised when one month you don't pass and I don't sympathize with you poorly managing your time, because you've already shown me that you suck at time management, especially when you could have gone on hiatus as soon as you realized you couldn't tag for a while and then didn't bother.
conversely, i hate it when you have tagged multiple things throughout the entire month and been flaked out on and the mods still make you take a strike even when it's very clearly not your fault.
