I agree with your sentiments about bringing mutants in. I mean, we're already getting Ultron in the new Avengers flick and (spoiler) Tony's his creator. So just like the last Avengers movie, it's going to be another Iron Man movie. I'd rather they develop some of the characters we're never going to see carrying a film of their own more than keep introducing gobs and gobs of people into the cast. And what was even the point of Thanos at the end of the Avengers if they're not going to use him?
And I know you definitely aren't talking shit about motherfucking Antman.
You can complain about no superheroine movies all you want (which I would join you in under usual circumstances) but don't belittle movies that fans have been waiting for for years. Personally, I've been waiting for an Antman movie for what feels like my whole life.
GotG is popular within the Marvel community and so is Antman, deal with it.
except that even hardcore nerds have been lol'ing the fuck over an antman movie ever since it was announced.
neckbeards do love gotg tho so i'll give you that one. but you have to admit it's fucked up we get both of those, the answers to the questions no one asked, before we get a decent superheroine movie or, fuck, even a non-white superhero movie.
you do realize that black panther has been passed over several times now for being too "unrealistic" and execs saying no one will buy a rich african prince.
yet we get antman and racoons.
let that sink in and then whine that people are rightfully lambasting what are sure to be marvel's first bombs.
GotG is a thing because Thanos is so heavily involved in Cosmic Marvel and it's easier to include at least some of that side somehow rather than cut that entire part of Thanos' background out and still try to make him work. Everyone in Guardians in the comics has major history with Thanos one way or another (you know, like his daughter Gamora) and they can pull the most amount of cosmic characters into a movie about them because they have so many ties to other groups while still keeping it in the general tone of the Avengers. The premise is also weird enough to at least get attention for being out there.
I assume they're just making Ant-Man to make it easier to use Ultron (unless they're really going to use Tony again? But that's so fucking dumb. Don't do that Marvel. Tony Stark can't do everything)
That said, any time they want to start making superheroine movies is fine with me. I don't know why we don't have a Black Widow movie already. Though I'm excited for Guardians in part because it's "female characters who have real roles and do things" quotient seems pretty high compared to the other sausage fests that is MCU. Apart from Thor.
a black widow movie is something i want so fucking bad, especially since it gives marvel a chance to do something different. do it in like a film noir style? that would be so cash.
but gotg just seems like it'll be another space opera like thor with slightly more self-awareness and ant-man is straight up white dude does science again, aka what we have in both iron-man and the incredible hulk(s)
oooh yes let's forget that gotg is giving us our second-ever lead female in a superhero team who is played by a woc and our first full female villain and both actresses have acknowledged that the two of them have a complicated relationship with each other that seems to be a huge part of both their characters
it is stupid as fuck. it's also a completely unsubstantiated theory that was floated on a few fansites, and that a bunch of people have taken as gospel truth because...idk, they think the appearance of ultron in the teaser trailer resembles tony's armor.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-19 04:32 am (UTC)(link)literally no one is checking for that dumb ass shit. it's only slightly more care level than ant-man.
meanwhile a fucking racoon and talking tree get a movie before a female superhero gets her own film, typical
