if you're playing someone like the joker it's ridiculous to not have them generating tons of negative cr
if you're playing someone who has literally no ic reason to do villainous shit in a jamjar setting it does get tiring to deal with the chapped asses of players who want your character to start shit regardless of how ooc that would be
either the heroes who want a punching bag or the ones who want someone to rape or abuse their precious woobie so they can play out hurt/comfort angst
Really it all comes down to why the character is a villain. For a lot of them, the story and setting of their canon directly influences why they are the way they are and removing them from that removes their motivation to do terrible things. So you aren't going to have a villain running around killing people or blowing up buildings or plotting revenge if the target of their feelings/goals is not there.
Yup. They can keep on being morally grey and or ambiguous or whatever, but like hell they're going to keep on killing people for absolutely no reason, and probably no gain too considering most jamjar mechanics.
Could you please tell the player of a villain in my game this. He's not a rapist in canon but half the player's CR and plurks about CR are about him raping other characters. Just 'cuz.
my villain is not a megalomaniac who would try to take over the jamjar just because. they're not stupid. they're not volatile. they don't run around kicking puppies for fun or slaughtering random innocents in canon. they're not a rapist.
they do have some negative cr but they have nothing to gain from starting any significant trouble and it would make no sense for them to do it anyway because their canon Reasons don't even apply in the jamjar.
