that... seems like it's kind of really reaching tho, unless you're also going to argue that a character attacking their so while under mind control or whatever is an allegory for "domestic abuse is a-okay" and i've never seen anyone make that argument.

there's a hugeass difference between "under the influence of alcohol/drugs/whatever" and "mentally controlled by some other being," namely one of them being something that can't ever happen in real life and is clearly fictional. they really aren't equatable at all.

actually that's pretty obvious. the anime takes the extremely common "it wasn't my fault!" bullshit and comes up with a ridiculous situation where it's actually correct. how do you watch that and not think "wtf, why would you do that?"

because the trope of having a character be mind-controlled/manipulated/otherwise forced into doing something terrible that they wouldn't otherwise do is as old as the hills and shows up in media all the time everywhere. it isn't suddenly magically different in this situation.

the metaphor doesn't work for most crimes because in most cases there aren't many people who think the criminal is innocent if he has a crappy excuse. no one would have had a problem if it was about him biting her neck like he does to l-elf.
