afaik, this person has been trying to raise money to move out of a bad home situation for a while. I think grad school is just an "acceptable" reason to get away from toxic family members.
like the above anons said it's easier to catch up with multiple threads that way, plus you can catch budding arguments as soon as they happen and it's easy to tell who's sameanoning

on top of what was already said, you can also actually see when sameanoning is happening, or when someone's going from thread to thread saying the same thing to troll. easier to avoid those people that way.
but that was a personal goal, not the goal of the game. some characters cared about the fate of all the universes as a whole, some characters only cared about their homes, but that was an individual choice.
At least they're holding them to the same headcanon rule as they did the last group.
