they've hit me up more than once. my character is way older than theirs and also their writing style isn't very good. it's short, boring, and full of grammatical and spelling errors.

idk, there's still an element of my wife is such a bitch for dying, feel bad about me!!!! in the narrative. for example, mary's entire letter is just her begging for james to forgive her for ruining his life, and he needs to do what's best for him, and she understands if he hates her, and it's just like why????? the game tosses this at us and it's like it's trying to present james' situation as tragic for him like mary's treatment of him is somehow abusive and meanwhile she does nothing of the sort except acting like a person dying from a terminal illness normally acts.
she's mad because there's a plot at one of her games that people are tagging today instead of the 27 incessant times she's plurked nagging reminders for them to tag it. they're doing what she wanted just not with the timing that suits her. what is out of context about that?

honestly i interpreted SH2 as a tragedy about two otherwise-normal people who were struck by tragedy and proceeded to completely self-destruct in heart-wrenching and violent ways. the narrative is a lot more complicated than one being a blameless flower and the other being a sack of shit. anyone who walks away from the game thinking james is the bigger victim or that mary was even remotely a meanie poophead bitch is pretty much a lost cause, but it's still supposed to be about gray areas and how good people can become twisted enough to do harmful (whether it's to themselves or to others or BOTH) things after being subjected to enough pain and isolation.

you're not alone, anon. i always feel bad when i see a specific scene for a character i really want cr with, and someone's already tagged into it.
i've seen some other players who play one of the same characters i do form rape headcanon for the most stupid fucking reason. it pisses me off. there is nothing in the canon that insinuates that rape ever happened.
i made basically this comment last round, and i wasn't sure who to replace amber with but aida is a good choice, +1
well yeah, but that's kind of what i was saying, dude. i thought that those elements of the narrative were there to showcase what a shitty loser he is and how he's the real monster and villain in the story. idk maybe it's just me, but i never thought that sh2's goal was to make you feel sorry for james. the fact that people did end up feeling sorry for him is a different matter entirely, but i really don't think that it was the intention driven by the narrative.
as a matter of fact, i felt like much of the game was built with the intention of making you distrust james from the get-go. none of the other characters trust or like him, and the story he spews at people about his wife never really made much sense in the first place. but because the game is told from his perspective, of course there's going to be an element of "but what about james's feelings tho" but i think in the overall picture of it, the whole game was about "well who gives a fuck because james has only ever thought about his own feelings anyway, and it's time he owned up to what he did and tried to think about someone other than himself for once in his life."
