You do remember that the rules say that the main stuff for Alicorning has to be during a modplot, right? Whoever is going for the position is going to get spotlighted as a Big Hero during stuff.
If this were a one-off thing, you'd get no complaint from me, anon. The ascension needs to be part of the alicorn thing with the rules, but it also spells out that the modplot involved doesn't need to be game-changing. And he's gotten the spotlight in major modplots at least three times that I can think of with his characters.
