i actually see way more blandly fluffy m/m (even when the characters hate each other in canon) than anything else.

i see a lot of "fucked up" het and m/m that is basically just a super strong big seme/macho man raping a delicate flower. it's actually difficult to find unhealthy pairing dynamics (for any pairing type) than don't follow the "rapist takes advantage of some poor young innocent" formula.

and i see tons of people of all ship types who say they like the fucked up parts of their ships and then write them as bland fluff.

People do that for everything but as an F/F shipper I've seen way more people police me about just shipping an unhealthy ship in general because it's "bad representation".

it might be that we just swim in different circles then. i do ship some f/f but i mostly ship m/m. i also don't have a tumblr so i'm not really exposed to the representation fetishists.

but i've met so many m/m players here in dwrp who will say they like fucked up relationships until the cows come home, but really the only fucked up relationship they actually like is my character raping their pillow king

or our characters fighting for all of one thread before they end up together and then settle into domestic bliss forever and ever

i mainly interact with the f/f side and there are some very loud, wanky "hdu ship this bad ship even if u acknowledge its bad and like it for being bad" people. it's just fandom now having more trouble separating reality from fiction, and when you're a lesbian shipping f/f people think you have to like the ships that would reflect a relationship you want irl. it's really fucking weird.
