People who don't realise metal gear is schlocky as hell are always going to be a problem. Schlock can be fun, it can be delicious, schlock is 300% my jam, as evidenced by how many times things such as Hobo With A Shotgun made me legitimately tear up, but just because it's enjoyable and invokes emotions doesn't necessarily mean something is well written.

It just means it's enjoyable and invokes emotions. Which I think is what a lot of people get caught up on. Not everything need to be deep, well thought out, or well written, it just needs to be entertaining to be a successful entertainment medium. Nothing needs to be /good/ to be enjoyed, it just needs to be enjoyable to you. Which probably needs to be said about a lot of series tbh.

the thing is that these people don't realize that. schlock can be incredibly fun but not when people pick and analyze it to death under the impression that there's a deeper meaning to it all. pseudo intellectualism ruined this fandom.

pretty sure it ruined the series too because no way in hell am i supposed to believe that in any way shape or form mgs4 was supposed to be touching or gripping in any way. that final boss fist fight is the funniest thing I've ever seen.

As dumb as the fight was, contextually, yeah, the fight could be fairly touching, though was also lost on me because because I was just 'fuck yeah this is sexy as hell.'
