okay but how is it excusing the behavior if it's still being called out, though? a piece of shit is still a piece of shit regardless of what label it has on it.
i wouldn't say it's so much excusing the behavior as it is willfully permitting a lie to be told as truth. if a lie gets repeated often enough it becomes the truth and all kevin needs is a couple of dedicated whiteknights willing to carry on the 'oh she's kay' story for him to set it in stone.
But, as long as their thread posts let people know they were kevin (which no one seems to be objecting to) it does not matter whether you call them kay or kevin. And calling them kay means the thread won't get derailed over and over (meaning people can easier be let known their douchiness), it means on the off chance we're wrong we look better, and most important it sends the message you can't hide that shit away just by pretending to be trans.
Like right now all the anons are giving kevin/kay exactly what they want. This thread, and the wank about them is becoming all about trans issues and the 100% confirmed no speculating shit they've done is getting buried. Plus, people are laying down some really gross, transphobic stuff that, if you don't know how gross this player is, makes them look better. (and please don't excuse that as defense I am NOT on their side, they are hands down the grosser party here.) i just hate that they're ggetting away with this an everyones playin right into it.
you may have a point in that all this debate about kevin's gender definitely serves his purposes in distracting from the real issues (namely, him being a creeper el grande, and, if the shit about his dead roommate is real, a legit sociopath). just the same, though, i don't think you're ever, ever going to convince everyone, or even a majority of people, to refer to kevin by the new handle and gender he's identifying as. while it's true that some anons get WAY too vehement about it, i do agree with the basic point that kevin shouldn't be referred to as kay because it sends a bad message. even if you say 'we can still call him a her and a creeper', it still gives a liar's lie legitimacy. every person who refers to him by kay, who refers to him as a her, and who treats his ruse as anything but what it is, they're the ones who are really playing right into his hands. there would be minimal thread derails and transwake if these people would just pull their heads out of tumblr's asshole and get a clue
just the way all this has gone down is enough to convince me that kevin not only isn't trans, but that he's not a tenth as stupid as he acts like. he was very shrewd in how he did this, as seen by how people are still arguing the legitimacy of his ruse 8 months after he tried it out. it didn't help him weasel out of ac at amat, which is what he really wanted, but he realized it could still be of use to him so he kept it up. and as a result his namedrops get continuously deleted and deluged with transwank because some tumblrinas just can't realize when they're being played
tl;dr - i think your basic idea is sound, but it's the kind of idea that looks good on paper and never flies in reality. there are just too many people who have been burned by kevin's "oh sorry i didn't mean to bother you ^_^_ (does it again)" routine to convince them that his ruse is worth even acknowledging for the basis of presenting a united front. the idea of legitimizing him is quite literally abhorrent to these people (as tbh it is to me) and nothing you say will convince them to tolerate a creeper's creeping.
