ngl i loved slaine/asseylum since the beginning and would be fine with asseylum hooking up with inaho too. i just wished the person she eventually got engaged to was more interesting. cruhteo jr is too cookie-cutter for me tbh
i would've been with either slaine being dead or a trial scene, just to bring in a different conflict between the terrans and the vers people who want him extradited. i could imagine asseylum struggling between extraditing him or not, mainly to show that just because she negotiated for peace doesn't mean other problems won't surface. it could've been so much interesting that way imo. does she even know that slaine is alive or not? idgi. so many unanswered questions from the finale
i think cruhteo jr was basically an apology to the original cruhteo's fans and they didn't want to spend more time on developing him than was necessary. he has a few moments like not drinking the tea and the ambiguity over how much he supports asseylum's plans and how much he just runs with whatever gets him married to the empress. ultimately he's a good guy who gets a good end because that's what fans wanted to happen with the original cruhteo. all that's left is him making up with slaine somehow.
well if she let the terrans have him and people knew this they might be calling for blood and she doesn't want that. i'm not sure what she knows or how it's supposed to go from there. maybe they want to eventually let him live normally somewhere but he's only just now stopped wanting to hurt others or himself. i think it's important that inaho kept talking to him until something worked, they don't want to just abandon him.
why do people love the original cruhteo so much though? he was an abusive dickwad for most of his screentime. having a minute of so of decency right before his death doesn't magically make that go away.
is it just because he's a hot middle-aged dude, or what?
People have him confused with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy in Bridget Jones's Diary and think that he acts like he has a stick up his ass but just needed Slaine to melt his heart and get to his squishy marshmallow center.
it's sad how true this is (i mean i guess they're not that off, considering cruhteo's last line to slaine, though personally i thought that was such a 180 that i was sure cruhteo was faking at first)
also sad is how cruhteo probably has more fans and defenders than asseylum at this point
