wow people seriously missed all the visual cues in that last slaine scene
>slaine's pupils came back! >he smiles >gap in the bars on the window >bird flying >three birds flying over the ocean
he's going to be free one day. he knows she still cares about him so he doesn't want to kill himself anymore.
also slaine fans who want him to escape and start a new war, did you miss how he admitted he was wrong and felt guilty? he really just wanted peace too. he doesn't care if they blame him. he doesn't want to escape. the whole last episode was just operation: save slaine, and they did. he's going to be happy again.
because slaine was right? tbh, the only thing that could stop the war was the destruction of "someone to fight against". they established it was slaine and "killed" him, now they bffs (or are they?). so his statement about war was the correct one. but this ceasefire is founded on a dirty lie, because slaine wasn't the only one nor the one who started this, peace won't last. what the princess is doing is questionable in general. there's a lack of vers perspective in the ending too, like they don't want to show what they think, we know the counts aren't happy and refuse to leave occupied lands.
we don't like him as the princess' bitch boy, resetting to zero development, that offers no satisfaction to some of us we would prefer for slaine to hang himself as a fuck you to the princess' wishes than meekly bow his head. we just don't like her at all and her poisonous influence on the male leads.
i don't wanna see a war, i want a violent space french revolution, instead. the civil war aspect was teased in second cour and we were blue balled because it wasn't delivered. it felt like after napoleon was defeated in waterloo and then suddenly mary antoinette came back from the dead and told everyone to get along and everything returned to status quo with royals.
you're kind of a shit if the conclusion you draw from different people having similar opinions that you don't agree with is "must be sameanon lmaooooooo"
>wow people seriously missed all the visual cues in that last slaine scene
I don't give a damn about visuals. If you really want a happy ending, show him happy and free rather than vague sad smile and symbolic birds after all the shit he went through which wasn't 'symbolic vague suffering'. They didn't do that. The show has no catharsis and that's why the nico rating is lower than the episode when Inaho and Asseylum got shot. The fanbase is pissed and the sales are rightfully tanking. You're domesticated to believe this was a happy ending for Slaine, because it wasn't. I was going to buy the whole show but now I cancelled my orders.
Who cares about the war, only a minority kept watching this show for muh war. Of course he wanted peace, but he wanted to bring it on his way and honestly, he deserved to win because Himechan was just a plot device with zero characterization who never struggled in her life and got all served on a silver platter. It doesn't matter if he's unhappy or miserable after winning or if Hime hates him, but at least that has some catharsis for the character than living on other two character's pity and compassion. Fuck that condescending ending. Inaho got it nearly as bad, his storyarc as character was dropped to become a plot device to "save Slaine" in the last episodes.
I can't speak on behalf of all his fans, but that wasn't my problem and I hated the ending for different reasons. I'm fine if Slaine dies or gets a tragic ending, but the key was in the execution and keeping true to his character, k? Slaine was one of the only decent characters of this show had to offer (vs flat bores and plot devices like Inaho and Asseylum) and the writing last episode ruined him. They made him give up randomly without explaining why he had doubts of his path now and stole him of his layers and complexity in the worst way possible turning him too into a convenient plot device. He seemed he did it because "the script said so."
I liked Slaine a lot and not because "he did nothing wrong" or "everything wrong" but because he changed, committed mistakes and had victories and was understandable and human that was something Asseylum and Inaho lacked: they were neither reletable or behaved like people. They killed Slaine as character for a fabricated, forced and insultingly moralizing "happy ending" that most of the audience didn't buy or wished for. By doing that, they destroyed the one of the few decent things and draw of the show had to offer. They didn't save Slaine, they destroyed everything that was good and interesting about the character.
Besides I suspect that most sound people don't buy that watching birds fly in a blue sky can actually undo psychological, physical and emotional scars no more than they can offer peace and prosperity unless you're as infantile and out of touch of reality like Asseylum.
