he has been criticized by multiple characters about his manner, to be fair. he's still suspicious and rough around the edges, but being put into a lead and mentor position means that he has to break out of his often antisocial tendencies. ymmv for sure, but i find it an interesting development.
he protects and helps people almost ~subconsciously~ now, and takes on a lot of responsibility and guilt if they're hurt... for characters he doesn't even know. he also works like a dog to make sure others are okay. it's like back-handed kindness. and as below anon mentioned, he's been doing this since ajna.
i know his mun's been working on developing him into a better person, but it turned his douche-baggery into frivolous fluff to give him a "hard shell" people have to "break through." (so yes to make him "edgy") at most, characters criticize his harsh wording, but never his actions. as far as i know, i'd love examples to the contrary
as for being a blue team lead, i haven't seen him have to use that to behave better for others, so i don't think it applies.
