uncle grandpa claims to be the uncle and the grandpa of everyone in the world; the Gems (the guardians/caregivers of Steven from SU) boggle at this, go, "so he's Greg's (steven's dad) father... AND brother?" and then the deadpan Gem makes a snarky remark about that explaining things, with the implication that Greg's family is universally weird.
Deadpan Gem is 'radically progressive' because she's actually two Gems fuzed into one, because the two Gems that make up her being are madly in love and never want to be separated. so she's a literal walking (monogendered magical space rock) lesbian relationship. But she says stuff like this from time to time-- "Can we really keep a lion?" "We kept [our teammate] Amethyst." and the like-- so it's basically 100% IC.
lol of course, tumblr treats minority characters like they're made of glass, so garnet can never say anything disagreeable because then it's ~ruining the character~ because lesbians must be perfect angels
i'm just waiting for them to freak when she gets an episode where she really fucks up, just like amethyst and pearl got.
