i said that people have the right to be angry and to tell them they're angry, but not to harass them.

you're the one who seems to have trouble distinguishing between crossing a line from saying you're angry with someone and unhappy with what they've done to harassing them.

if you don't understand what harassment means, you should probably look it up. it may save you some criminal charges later in life.

before we go any further, i would like to hear what you think is a reasonable response to a mod deleting a game. let's take mental illness and any other reasoning on the mod's side out of the question for now. just your idea of a reasonable response, not what anyone else should or shouldn't do. where's your line?

i would also like to hear what you think harassment is. i don't feel like we can effectively communicate about this until i understand where you're coming from.

in cases like this, a harsh response is necessary to ensure that this person never, ever, ever pulls shit like this again and that people who are tempted to try know what will happen to them if they pull this shit themselves.

define "a harsh response." my definition of harsh response and your definition of harsh response are probably very different, which is why we're not understanding each other. you need to be specific, please. what is a justified harsh response to a mod deleting a game?

if someone tries to find her home address and try to destroy her real life, then yes, that's way too far. nobody has done that, though, so this handflapping is pointless.

if you don't want to deal with dwrp, just leave. don't try to destroy everyone else's enjoyment in the process. and don't expect people not to get theirs back if you do.

nobody is handflapping. well, at least not here or now. you have repeatedly argued that you or other people have the right to harass someone just because you're angry and have repeatedly accused people arguing against harassment as an appropriate response to being angry as defending freya and claiming they shouldn't get consequences because they're mentally ill.

however, when pressed on what you think harassment is, you don't have a definition (or aren't offering it for whatever reason) and keep making vague assertions about how you're in the right to get some sort of vague, nebulous revenge you won't even define.

so let's look at what harassment actually is. to qualify as harassment under the law, the behavior has to be disturbing and threatening, a repeated pattern, and often based on gender, race, sexual orientation, age, disability or national origin.

i like to think that you're not arguing that it's ok to threaten someone or contact them repeatedly with disturbing content (such as gorespam, for example), harangue them about having a disability, mental or otherwise, or hound them through other online sites that have nothing to do with dw or rp. however, when you keep saying that harassment is a-ok without saying exactly what you view as harassment, i can only go by the standard definition and tell you that it's excessive and unjustified.

people absolutely should be able to tell them how they feel about what they did. they have every right to be furious. they don't have to sugar coat it or be friendly about it. they don't have to coddle them because they're depressed. i said that from the get-go, and i was very clear about it.

but if they're telling them to kill themselves, sending gorespam, threatening them, sending them dozens or more e-mails, messages, etc. (all from a single person) harping on and on about what a piece of shit they are in direct communications, trying to find personal contact info, and so on, that's harassment. that's excessive, and that's what i am saying no one has the right to do no matter how mad they are. there's a reason that kind of behavior is illegal, while telling somebody what you think of them and being harsh about it as a one off thing isn't.

essentially, we're actually in agreement. they shouldn't have done what they did. they shouldn't expect people not to take them to task for it, but they shouldn't be harassed, which is a lot more than what you actually seem to be advocating now that you've clarified to a degree.

thanks for letting this be a conversation and not just some stupid trolling thing. if you're one of the people who was in the game when all this went down, i'm sorry that you went through it and i am definitely not trying to downplay or justify what happened. i would be very angry at anyone who did this to a game i was playing in. all i'm doing is what i would do in any situation like this, advocating that people don't jump the shark entirely when it comes to reacting in anger.
