pretty easy. you'll get tags, but her canon status hasn't made her a pivotal figure in game so if you don't want to play with her just ignore any tags you get and you won't be forced to interact with her.

toss them an ooc note or pm reminding them it's labeled as a closed prompt and that it's not open to them

then smh to yourself and go about your business as normal

i recently had someone ignore my clearly marked preferences and tag outside of them. i just didn't reply.

It'd be a huge wankfest.

You'd have people too afraid to bring up someone else's activity or the potential for butthurt tittybabies to lob complaints at people with no restraint.

Then on the flipside, you're putting the policing of activity on the players. That's giving them both a lot of responsibility you can't trust everyone with (see above) and also putting the burden on other players to be responsible for someone else's AC. "Don't like someone's activity level? Well have you logged a complaint? Well it's your own fault they're a flake then!" It really should not be someone else's responsibility to monitor and report flakes. So you're actually putting more pressure on them.

i've had someone do this/done this too.

it's not that i'm trying to get the person to pay attention, it's just that i genuinely like the content they post and want to have it available to view later. at the same time, i'll feel like i don't know them well enough to strike up random conversations with them. especially if they have a lot of friends in the plurk all talking together. it feels like i'm jumping into the middle of something with a bunch of close friends and i don't want to be that awkward person especially when i'm not even plurk friends with the others.

The only exception I've ever seen was someone who didn't ID as trans themselves but wanted queer sjw brownie points bcuz trans version of the character is 100% more cool than boring cis shit.

please someone make this game, it'd be great

since the mods would have to verify everything to make sure the person is absurdly being inactive and it's not just overreacting or grudgewank? you're putting more responsibility on the mods.

plus who decides what an acceptable level of activity is? it's pretty obvious everyone here has a different opinion on what's considered active and what's not.

we already do this with ac - my idea was more that you have activity standards set the way they already are, but instead of checking activity for everyone in the game at the same time, you only do it when there's a concern. it'd still be "x comments/y threads in the last month" or whatever an acceptable set of standards are.

I'm highly skeptical that that was done well

that's a good point.

this system would also rely heavily on players using post tags to mark where they've been, but that's still less work than AC.

a few times, but it was for private psls. because the players were honest about the fact that they were playing trans characters just because they felt like it, there wasn't any tumblr style grasping for straws, which is usually what makes trans headcanons cringe worthy

haruka tenoh is transmasculine

bye, bitches

with samus it's a bit more complicated. iirc, there was an old interview from the nineties where some of the game devs made shitty jokes about how samus might be a "new half", which is outdated (and insulting) japanese slang for mtf transsexuals. when parts of the interview made its way to the internet, the tone was lost in translation, and tumblr fans mistook a transphobic, sexist joke for actual representation

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
i've heard some tumblr fans claim that anime!haruka is a cis lesbian, but manga!haruka is genderfluid. can a manga fan confirm or deny?

That weird second-hand awkwardness when you're watching someone flounder for unfinished shipping threads while they barely scrape by in AC.

This person has been hanging on by their nails (and strategic strikes/hiatuses) for over a year now. It feels like the only person they're interested in playing with is their shipping partner, and they tag back like molasses when their partner is usually a pretty regular tagger. I'm just cringing while I watch the ship slowly fall apart on Plurk.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It's been a little while since I read the manga, but from what I remember she just didn't care too much what people thought about her. I don't think there was anything that made it clear she didn't identify as a woman (whether being genderfluid or otherwise,) just that it wasn't super important to her whether other people thought she was male or female and she didn't put much thought into it herself.

So I guess it was probably vague enough that you could make an argument but I don't remember anything that made it clear.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-05 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
manga!haruka was still very much into women. but she was drawn in a more masculine way on her first few appearances if that's what they mean. she was eventually drawn the same way as the other girls after she admitted to being sailor uranus iirc.
