the problem with BS isn't the lackadaisical modding (tho that can be a problem from time to time; see how long they took to ban antman and selwyn)
but the REAL problem with BS is that it's basically become www 2.0 where a circlejerk of players known to come here and wank on anybody they don't like runs everything and if you're not in the circlejerk you get frozen out
and then they whine about why fewer people are tagging on memes
the well-established game. a small game is almost always going to remain small (and die quick) but a game with a bad rep can shake it quick with the right mods
this. i laugh at people who swear dwrp will never die because ~fandom is everywhere!~, hell, technically ljrp isn't dead, there's still half a dozen or so dedicated luddites who stuck there and will never ever leave but in terms of any growth or appeal to an outsider it might as well be dead
that's dwrp's future. it'll never die, true, but the comments will shrink smaller and smaller until it's like 1-5 for every meme (and only the big ones will ever get posted) and it'll obviously be the same dozen or so lifers who have no appeal to anyone but themselves and each other
sounds like a conspiracy theory. think the problem with bs is just that the same people from the same canons are top-levelling. most people tag castmates or characters whose fandoms or players they know on memes. if you don't play from mcu or one-two fad la or anime shows, you don't have many familiar options. the simple solution would be to just top level more if you play from a less popular canon and create that diversity, providing material to other people who are likewise not top levelling because they're waiting on someone else to do it. but we're too lazy for it.
I don't actively rp from it anymore so I just keep my chatter to my friends who watch it. Which is usually my RL friends when we're hanging out for tea.
people probably don't like it because it sets a precedent that vespurrs will psychotically harass people like this because they dared to say something about their character's actions.
If the next big fandom space after Tumblr is somewhere friendlier to text-based activities, I imagine a lot of people will migrate from here to there. The main objection to Tumblr RP is, for a lot of people, that Tumblr's interface sucks for anything involving writing. If the next fandom hub is better in that regard, I think people will pack up and move there. I know I would. My otherwise fairly popular fandoms are absolutely dead in DWRP.
If Tumblr sticks around, or the next fandom hub is equally shitty for RP, I can see DWRP lasting a decent amount of time.
six memes with 100+ replies and the others with a modest amount isn't what I'd call a flop. it's a better average than bakerstreet's front page and it's growing. you're making the same mistake every wger makes about new games: "waaah 5000 people didn't join this new game in the first app round, it's DOA!"
this community is allergic to change and needs to be eased into transitions or it throws its toys out of the tub
i'd rather stick with memezilla over bakerstreet anyway because the mods have promised to cut off "I know we already have a pregnancy and pregnant sex and breeding meme with such options but IMPREGNATION MEME" assholes at the pass instead of letting them continue to repost shitty repeat memes
idk i think you underestimate a) how many people will watch a shitty show like Agents of Shield which is still happening for some reason, and b) how many Star Wars fans will eat up ANYTHING star wars, doesn't matter what or where
