I'd be with you in spirit if the example you've given wasn't so awkwardly written.

Try something like "Sebastian Shore's eighteenth birthday had just passed when he took up his place at the Engineering college" instead. It's wordier, but it's not stilted, and it doesn't make me wonder who "The engineer" is and why they've wandered into Sebastian's paragraph without an invitation. "Giving more information" is useless if your narrative isn't engaging.

Changing things based on your needs works. Another piece of advice is just keep the game going. A lot of games have mods that bail because the game winds up smaller than they intended, even when the game has enough active players to work. I play at Legion, and the mods there promised us that as long as there were enough active players to keep the game functioning, they'd keep it open. So even though they capped it a little too low and it accidentally wound up smaller than everyone wanted, because they refused to declare it a failure and treated the small playerbase as still valuable, the game stayed open long enough to get some fresh blood and it's finally starting to grow a little.

The mods not declaring Legion a failure when the caps made things too small meant the problem started to self-correct over time, and alongside increasing the caps, them treating even the small playerbase as still worth doing the work for hasn't hurt at all with us recruiting new players to fix the problem. The game is five months in and because it didn't fold, people are starting to trust that it won't close suddenly so more are apping in even though it's small.

Basically, if you do try to cap and accidentally create size problems, any problems that come from accidentally capping too small can be balanced out over time as long as you don't bail on your players.

Ha ha. How sad is it that I read this and felt better about getting some of my tag outs ignored recently? It may not be me, it's just the way things are here.

A and B are the established canon couple and have been together for some time. But that is boring, we need some drama, so let's have A and B get into a huge fight, and then A meets C and they start seeing each other! But it's just a ploy for drama, A and B will get back together eventually.

...what's this? People actually like A/C better than A/B? Shit, we better kill off C so that A can get back together with B.

I get that this is probably a joke as nobody plays from it and I doubt most people who DWRP are even old enough to have watched this, but really, that development hurt my heart.

where? you claim that the mods are stirring the wank, but you've offered no evidence. you say the game is full of wankers, but you haven't given a single name.

vague references to wanky shit going down are not deets.

I thought I was alone! It seemed to come up as a pair-off-the-extras thing early on to avoid adding more jealousy/love triangle drama to Kagome and Inuyasha. I also hate that neither had much interaction with Kagome or Inuyasha because plot were almost always split up by ships.

Come to think of it, very few Takahashi characters seem to interact much with anyone who isn't a love interest or a rival.

You're definitely not alone. I dislike it mainly because of the dynamics. I didn't like how he sexually harassed her or how she didn't clearly didn't like it but was tsundere about him. Like how she was always jealous whenever he flirted/harassed another female character. I know that Sango was going to get saddled with him and pop out his babies, but it was still frustrating.

I would have liked to see them interact and split off with either Kagome or Inuyasha more.

Cap's concern was that the UN, which has sat on its hands during many a massacre or genocide through history (see: the Rwandan genocide and the utter uselessness that was UNAMIR), might have a corrupt agenda where they'd possibly toss the Avengers at something it was wrong to intervene in or not toss them at something that needed intervention. That's an entirely realistic fear given the state of politics and various world governments and all the political bullshit in the UN. People like Ross get in charge of things all the time and it's very realistic that shitty politics could lead to the Avengers being used to attack people that don't deserve it or be forced to sit on their hands when some massacre is going on. Cap already had experience with this, look at how SHIELD was infiltrated by HYDRA when it was supposed to be something that served the public.

Team Stark was right that something as powerful as the Avengers needs oversight but MCU is heavily rooted in real world realism when it comes to nature of the international conflicts they have. It's naive as hell to assume a UN committee wouldn't be corrupt as fuck when the UN has often been used for inappropriate interventions for the sake of individual countries' political agendas (like the US) or sat back when they should intervene countless times through its history.

The problem was Team Cap and Team Stark needed to find a compromise where they weren't 100% beholden to the politics of world governments but also weren't 100% free of any oversight either. Because Tony and Cap are both arrogant and have their heads up their own asses, they recruited their friends into a huge conflict over it instead of standing together and going on superhero strike until the UN worked with them to find reasonable compromises.

That was the same problem in the comics, that there needed to be a middle ground that led to greater training and accountability but superhero IDs still being heavily protected instead of in some shitty government database. One of the What-Ifs in the comics was even a "what if Tony and Cap didn't have their heads up their own asses" and in that they come to a compromise where there's better training and organization for heroes and a secret ID database but it's defended by the Avengers so rando villains can't steal it easily from the government and only two senior Avengers have access at any given time. That way it existed so if a hero needed to be arrested for negligence or something, they actually had the secret ID to hand over to law enforcement if there was a warrant, but the secret ID database had much better defenses than if it was some shitty government database in some shitty government building.

Basically both Cap and Tony were right and wrong in the mcu civil war just like they were both right and wrong in the comics civil war. And in both they're so full of themselves that they don't consider that the right solution is a compromise in the middle.

You also realize that while the TDMs are monthly now, people have likely been waiting for the one that was closer to the app period? I know plenty of people who put off TDMing because it felt like there was no point to doing it in the off-app month.

It could very well just be poor timing.

"i hope this game is more fun than this app process"

it's stated further down in the plurk. personally, i don't think that statement warranted the response it got, because this person later said they waited 4 months to get to app, meaning they tried in the round that closed out in what may as well have been minutes, so of course the app process won't be fun.

all this whole thing has done is make me headshake at nightingale and side-eye hyperion like mad.
