okay but biologically how does having an external spine lower stimuli when presumably it would still be attached to the nerves and the brain? it's just a transmitter cable. also isn't that a stupid modification to give the group that is supposed to be high-activity, I assume combat and the like? our bodies are built to protect our spinal cord.

To be fair, the first Pokemon games has you dealing with the mafia who canonly abuses animals, there's massive hints that a war took place not too long ago, some dex entries are horrifying as hell, etc. Pokemon has some dark shit in it when you actually look into it.
not to mention some of the newer evil factions inadvertently or deliberately try to bring on the apocalypse themselves.
