When I said "tailor the thread", stuff like asking ICly is what I meant.

YES

thank you.

"weeeeh how am i supposed to know how to respond if i don't read introspection???"

respond to what your character is actually experiencing, fuckwit. what they're seeing, hearing and feeling. not what you, the player, know about the other character's inner monologue. that's not how this shit works.

players who have their characters good at everything, instantly knowledgeable about the game plot or whatever your character is trying to figure out, or never get hurt or have any difficulties in fight scenes.

it is bland, boring, and an overall mediocre playing experience to play off of anyone like this. i avoid them like the plague as soon as i see this is how they play.

Playing out IC conflict that's more complicated than "I'm sorry :(" "I'm sorry too :(" after one thread and actually lasts for several months OOCly is pretty great, not gonna lie.

Re: WHAT MAKES A TAG MEDIOCRE?

(Anonymous) 2016-08-02 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, but if you're having your character ask ICly about their mother after they had their character have a passing thought about her but not mention her, it's still infomodding. if i'm misunderstanding what you mean, then i'm not talking specifically about you, but there are plenty of people who do this, to the point i specifically limit introspection when threading with them to avoid having this happen.

What's worse is they snuck in the decreased capture rate, people had been suspecting it was happening, but it took people using bots to confirm it. You don't make such a change in the game's difficulty without letting people know.

Niantic basically fucked over the suburban and rural players hardcore - they bare had enough stops to resupply their pokeballs, and very few interesting spawns, now it's about impossible.

I wish there were more people who enjoyed negative CR and long-term fallout. Pretty much every time I've had this situation with just one exception, the other player got anxious and wanted to force reconciliation when it would be OOC for my character. Getting constantly hounded OOC about, "When are they going to make up?" pretty much kills that enjoyment.

I didn't have people on my dash who were really into Homestuck, but I'll take your word for it they did that. Aside from a canon gay main character and a hyped up lesbian relationship, I don't—

You know what, there was a post where PharahxMercy fans were surprised and some even upset that a conditional voice quote by Genji towards Mercy was confirmed because him calling her Angela would imply she has relationship potential outside of the "pure lesbian ship" (I don't ship Gency). Let's call it the the Sacred Tumblrcow Effect.

I didn't implying anything. I said if I'm asking a question I already searched for information. Asking questions is sort of playing in a game, especially when there are involved plots so complaining someone is proactive sounds dumb.

you mean the way it was before tdms were a thing? yeah i agree. if they wanted the slot, grabbing a reserve will take less time than posting on the tdm.

reserve sniping as a complaint boggles my mind.

let me bold the parts where you're wrong.

i'm not the type of player who goes "hand me information" but if i'm asking for it, it means i have tried to find it and didn't.

that doesn't imply that they ask quite a bit. it just states that any time they ask for something, it's done after a fruitless attempt to find it themselves. stop projecting.

and ftr, if a mod can't handle people asking them things, they shouldn't be a mod. rule one of modding; if numerous people are asking you the same thing that you've already written down somewhere, maybe you're not expressing it properly and you need to reword it. if your standard answer is 'it's in the faq' without actually reading what the request is, you shouldn't be the mod dealing with people, because if you miss the 'i looked in the faq and couldn't find ____' the problem here is you, the mod. not the player.

or you're just incapable of understanding the meaning. expecting someone to write their rping and format it to cater to you and your needs specifically over their own or the ease of the masses makes you entitled.

entitled.

look it up. believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment. ie; someone catering to your needs. entitled. it's the magic word of the day.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-02 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
if that's what you're taking away from it, then yes. or it could just not be your thing.

if you're equating it to anime, that's kind of your main problem right there. if you don't like la stuff, you're not going to like an la movie.

i'm actually looking forward to it and have been for a good long while, and no, it has nothing to do with jared leto's joker. (can we all please stop trying to hold up heath ledger's as the one true joker. he was lambasted for his joker before the movie came out because critics and dcu fans alike didn't like the look of him or what little they saw in the trailers. he was one of the more shit upon jokers in the series before it actually came out, so read your source material)

let's keep in mind that people are kind of mentally comparing dceu to mcu, which is dumb. marvel has a lot of genetic crap to back up their science and non-humans, but dcu is extremely campy and pulls it out of their ass. plant ladies. chemically imbalanced sociopaths. villains that are goopy clay blobs. a guy that's a mutated penguin doof. there's no rhyme or reason behind dcu other than 'because we can'. superman's secret identity is hidden with glasses? please. they practically make fun of themselves.

don't take the movie seriously. it's why i love burton's versions of batman best. they have the right amount of grit, cheek, and self deprecation. suicide squad is just going to be a fun watch for people that like stuff like that. if you don't, it's not because you're not a fan of elite cinematography.

tanagura's probably fine if you're anime or non-la. even carvaka's not terrible, but again, it's more for anime or non-la. if you want to app an adult la male or especially female character you're kind of sol. they're not shitty. they're just not as open to all types as people might like.

+1 to all of this and adding

an anime manic pixie girl?

lmao.

manic pixie dream girls as a trope were named by a western film critic talking about an american actress' character in a hollywood film (nathan rabin on kirsten dunst in the cameron crowe movie elizabethtown). not only is your lack of interest in suicide squad not evidence of your superior taste, you could stand to make sure you actually know what you're talking about when you reference terms.

people forget that apps are really only part of the process of getting into a game. if someone is toxic, that can be an autoban. if someone mouths off to the mods, they can also be rejected. and if the mod knows beforehand that the player isn't going to put that much time into the game and is likely to be a squatter or a pain in the ass to deal with in regards to activity while the other party is easier to work with? that's part of it. that goes into the decision process. player behavior counts, even if it's just between 'makes no noise and has no ooc presence vs is a toxic and loud as fuck asshole'.

both apps are passable. b's activity and behavior detracts from that tiny bit of difference. if a's app would have passed on its own, accept it. app writing is too much of a pain in the ass as it is. it's so easy to miss one little detail that someone else does. does the personality still give you a good look at the character? yes? and they're a decent player? then go with a.

canadian here.

i think part of it is that it's a first world country where they have third world conditions and the politicians and media don't want to actually focus on that. so from an outside perspective, you hear 'we're number one. fuck the rest of the world. we're the super country', but you're seeing news reports about racial violence/racism, laws being passed that practically make being a woman a crime, dress codes that contradict themselves, people doing things that are just flat out stupid, but no, america's the greatest.

there is no wank in the united states. i think it's that most other countries acknowledge they're fucked up and the us denies it so vehemently and will punch you in the face if you say otherwise. (or some parts of it do. do not be anti american if you're in texas)

Re: YOU BE THE MOD/PLAYER

(Anonymous) 2016-08-02 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, if one person reserves and someone else challenges, my instinct would be to accept the app from the person who reserved unless it would have gotten a revision/reject in any case. The activity concerns are just extra motivation to go with A.

I'm only interested in CR with characters I know. I don't play in games and rarely on memes so it doesn't come up much, but it does mean that I'm a huge medium snob because I don't watch anime or anime-style canons. Since I play popular live action male characters tho, I seem to do okay for finding characters I DO want to play with.
