It takes two goddamn seconds to change accounts and peek at a dw inbox. I have 5 active journals and I've never had trouble keeping up with tags that way
good for you. do you have the time to do that in a repetitive loop every few minutes to make sure you don't miss a tag? can you reliably do that as quickly on mobile? are you rping and only rping and not likely to get distracted by the other things you're doing at the time? most people have email notifs set up to ping or send a desktop notif or have a marker light up on an open browser tab, that way if something comes in, they can get to it as it comes in (if they're on and so inclined to do so). that's the whole point of having your notifs emailed.
like, hey, good on you if you're so comfortable logging in and out and doing it your way, but not everyone has the time, inclination, or ability to do so. maybe think about that before you speak. people have different ways of tagging. some people lose their motivation for a thread they had before if they have to keep manually checking or they go watch something and forget and come back and they got a tag an hour ago and now their partner is offline and they could have spent that time boomeranging.

now they are, yes, but at the time this discussion was going on, they weren't. so yes, people have a right to complain about a service most people put some money into that isn't working as promised. take your pedant goggles off.

Don't forget there being actual black people with no 'coding' needed as well. We've just had an episode centered around two of them.
there's an entire cast + the rest of their ecats gang who are doing a whole lot of poly/super open relationships in my game. i'm usually all "whatever, ship what you want to ship", but it looks like one player is even setting up to have all three of their characters hooking up with the same characters/within that same cast and it's getting non-sensical and ridiculous.

it is an issue when antagonists are the ONLY minorities on any given show, but like we said, Bismuth isn't the only black-coded Gem. Garnet's been there the whole fucking time.

I think this is the crux of the problem right here. Usually in any given show/book/movie/etc we only have ONE black character, and usually that one black character ends up being the antagonist. And even in cases where that black antagonist is redeemed, they usually end up dying too. So outside of media specifically made for black people, there is not much in the way of good representation.
So what happens when we have a show with several black-coded characters, all a mix of good and bad? People tend to forget the important part of the problem (that having a black character be the antagonist is primarily a problem when that antagonist is the ONLY black character in the entire canon), and automatically jump to getting angry when a black character isn't on the protagonist's side, even when there is plenty of representation within that series.
