Is Hedge "TaoOfCrime" on plurk? Because if so then I just saw him make a giant ass out of himself on plurk and publicly stating 'I support militant resistance' re: Bismuth.
If not, well, TaoOfCrime is a stan for Malcom X and the Black Panthers so have fun with that.
Mica, No fandoms are large, complex social groups consisting of numerous people with conflicting opinions. Mica, No The same sure as fuck is true of tumblr, or any other social media web site. Mica, No I think probably the people asking for like.... idk, what's a common issue with this Mica, No complicated morally grey stories are not the same people complaining about the same or reducing those to black and white. Mica, No So it always annoys the heck out of me when large diverse groups with a lot of infighting are referred to as if some popular opinion represented the gestalt of their preferences. Mica, No no that's not Mica, No how demographics works Mica, No that's not how people work Mica, No i mean i know you're bitter because the thing you appreciate is not being widely lauded by those you consider to be your ideological allies, but the truth is that no two humans are exactly matched in opinion Mica, No and you need to stop talking as if liking the same cartoon show obligates people to align their opinions to the loudest margin Mica, No and judging the group based on this arbitrary standard which you have made up just now out of bitterness Mica, No idk Mica, No GRUMPY ABOUT GENERALIZATIONS CORNER Mica, No POPULATION: MICA. ♔Kippie it's like when people say stuff like that about feminists without realizing there's a divide between sex positive and sex negative feminists, and intersectional vs more traditional feminism norman feetus #NotAllTumblr norman feetus I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist Mica, No YOU KNOW WHAT FRODA norman feetus I do get what you're saying, and it can be annoying when someone tries to ascribe differing opinions to essentially the same group of people Mica, No that is what i am doing Mica, No ascribing differing opinions to the same group of people Mica, No because the group is large and disparate Mica, No and does not have cohesive opinions norman feetus yes, I'm sorry, I didn't word that clearly. Mica, No You make a good point though, that joke was well placed Mica, No im just salty today because the #discourse around steven universe has gotten so weird norman feetus fandom discourse is increasingly weird, contradictory and full of attempted gatekeepers across the board tbh ♔Kippie oh lord the bismuth stuff is bizarre as hell, it's shown me a chunk (note: not the whole thing, a CHUNK) of the SU fandom that is just... what... ♔Kippie I never thought I'd ever see people upset that the message in a children's show is "don't kill people" Elf of the Sun Nobody gets in to see the Wizard discuss the fandom, not nobody, not no-how! sᴍᴏʟ ʟɪᴏɴ People got upset over Aang not killig the Fire Lord in Avatar fandom, too ♔Kippie I can almost see that argument solely based on the fact that there's no way there weren't lethal causalities due to aang earlier in the show or people who aren't used to the really asian storytelling thing ♔Kippie where someone who's holding to their morals against all hope has a spiritual moment (either help from a spirit or they hit enlightenment, kind of both in aang's case) and very suddenly gain the answer ♔Kippie which seems super "out of the blue" to most western audiences ♔Kippie but makes total sense to anyone even remotely familiar with eastern storytelling practices, particularly in folklore and hero stories ♔Kippie The Bismuth stuff, though... they think she's coded black (I can see that) and because of that they think they should support the narrative of killing your oppressors (what the fuck) Yuh-muh-nuh! I support militant resistance. Which is why I was disappointed with that episode. Frankly I think a kid's show should never have tried to tackle a topic that heavy in the first place tho. Mica, No I mean, it's satisfying, isn't it? Someone did something horrible to you, so you wanna do something horrible back. That's a natural reaction. Mica, No But it's not....... like. Good. Yuh-muh-nuh! It's not horrible to defend yourself. Malcom X and the Panthers both articulated that. Mica, No Pretty sure that's not what the episode was about. Yuh-muh-nuh! It sounded to me like it was. IDK it read to me like a coded political metaphor that was basically identical to the one X-Men has been running with for 30 years Mica, No It doesn't correlate. The Crystal Gems were already defending themselves. It was a war, not a riot. Yuh-muh-nuh! and even if it's not an exact metaphor, like X-Men was, it still sends a bad message to kids Mica, No I don't think, "It's acceptable to murder people over ideological differences" is a good message for children. Mica, No I think we are probably talking past one another. Mica, No I also don't want to have the deep war/morality conversation in my lighthearted grumping about generalizations plurk. I will absolutely have this conversation with you somewhere else, if you'd like. ♔Kippie exactly, kids don't need to be brought into violence by being introduced to early Malcom X (before he decided he was wrong) or the Black Panthers Mica, No this is the weirdness I was talking about~ Yuh-muh-nuh! Malcom x never renounced militancy, he justeft the noi. Anyway my point isn't that bismuth should have been shown to be justified. But that Mica, No Hedge, I'm not joking, I am setting down a limitation, these are my personal boundaries I would like you to respect them~ Yuh-muh-nuh! The show set itself up for a moral question that it wasn't equipped to answer, especially to an audience of children Yuh-muh-nuh! It felt like one of those fabrics where they suddenly throw in dark stuff bc they think that makes for nature writing sᴍᴏʟ ʟɪᴏɴ Maybe you should pull your head out of your ass and listen to Mica mang Yuh-muh-nuh! *mature Yuh-muh-nuh! *fan fics Yuh-muh-nuh! Maybe you should not be rude Mica, No I respect the strength of your opinion and sincerely do not want to block you, but you are being disrespectful right now. Please take this discussion elsewhere, may I suggest making a plurk of your own. Yuh-muh-nuh! Oops Yuh-muh-nuh! Mobile didn't refresh in time for me to get that Mica, No It generally doesn't, which is why it is ill-advised to write to plurk on mobile. Mica, No I'm actually kinda annoyed to heck with you right now, but I need to go to work. Am I going to be able to trust that you'll respect my boundaries while I'm away from the computer taking care of children? Mica, No We Just Don't Know. Yuh-muh-nuh! Sorry about that. I shouldn't have gotten to not a topic that controversial if I couldn't see replies in real time Yuh-muh-nuh! *into a Yuh-muh-nuh! I'm at work too Mica, No This plurk is a trainwreck ♔Kippie I feel partially responsible so I also apologize, didn't think for a second about what might happen if I brought up that hot topic ♔Kippie I promise to only bring laughs next time sjhdfb Yuh-muh-nuh! Let's get it back on tracks
New Castmate here. Not AYRT or OP, but I will come in to say that your initial response was very off-putting and really confused me. I've never been told that a very close castmate is 'easy to avoid' (which I did read as you not wanting to play out anything), so I was very confused and caught off guard with your answer. Apparently it looks as though I wasn't the only one who thought this.
I was hoping to discuss with you that negative cr could eventually turn positive but it felt as though you shut me down right away. Feel free to contact me through PM or my plurk (or here, i guess) so my so we can resolve what I hope is just miscommunication.
According to RP anon, there is a throat for 'older' characters, but how feasible a would it be to bring a 40-60 year old into a game like this. What sort of CR could they hope for if any.
looking at it now, i can see how that can be read that way and i apologize for that. i meant more because if you wanted what i didn't want or vice versa, it'd be easy to avoid me if our styles didn't mesh. that's on me for bad wording and i really do genuinely apologize if i made you feel like that. it's a shitty feeling and i certainly didn't mean it.
since you okayed it, i'm going to add you on plurk and we can chit chat about this. or not. up to you.
