as fucking flaky as people are about ignoring starters because "it's not what they were secretly hoping for but the person tagging them didn't read their mind," i can't blame people at all for trying to narrow it down a little at first. there's a huge difference between what they did and what starter fishers pull.
yeah i'm not seeing the problem here, either. on the rare chance that i do happen to get a tag from a stranger on a meme, i'd appreciate the courtesy of them asking what i'd be okay with, just to make sure. it saves everyone time, plus it's polite.
i don't expect that, of course. getting a tag on a meme is a rarity in and of itself, let alone someone asking for prefs. but the gesture is nice, not annoying.
