+ 0.5

I've done this with player plot stuff or something I want certain people, who rarely check their reading lists but see stuff on plurk more often, to see who are on at different times of day. I wouldn't do it if I could trust those people to check their fucking reading pages. So I plurk once in what is the evening for me and once in what is the morning for me, because a few of these people are in widely different time zones.

However, people who do it more than twice just baffle me, especially when it's a really unimportant post. Or when they leave messages like 'last replurk I promise!!!' Then it just sounds desperate.

see if you want certain people to notice it, I don't understand why you don't just... PP those people. I might plurk a post if I think people on my plurk might be interested, but after that if there's certain people who wanted to be part of it in past discussions and might not have seen it, I would just PP them and maybe ping that again if they didn't answer within 24 hours. Past that I figure they're not interested or something came up and they're too busy and don't bother hassling them about it. the multiple replurks for 'everyone awake at this time' just seem like begging for attention to me.

I've done that before, though, and then I've gotten complaints (at least on player plot stuff) that someone or other felt left out because they weren't included in the pp. So at that point I just threw up my hands and figured I'd just post stuff twice and be done with it. It's simpler and avoids the risk of someone being left out.

Like I said, I pretty much just do this for plots I'm running or when there's something potentially important CR-wise that I want people in different time zones to see. Once at night. Once in the morning. Bam, done. I don't have to fiddle with doing a private plurk to several people. I don't worry about leaving someone out.

make one plurk then ping people you know are interested.

what is difficult about this.
